Some soulmate Sylus and MC thoughts. Past MC is described as being a girl, but the reader/current MC is still gender neutral.
Sylus falling in love with MC. Thats it, thats the fic.
It took Sylus a while to differentiate from you and his sorceress, his mage. She was you, but you weren't her.
In this new life, you were different. So unbelievably different than all the other iterations he had met. Maybe it was the people you grew up with, those who your soul, his soul, had known lifetimes before.
It bothered him, initially. How did he remember everything in this life, all the struggle for peace and time, just for you to end up disgusted by him? The fiendish part of him, the animalistic itch in his being, wanted to snap. To force you to remember, to beg you to remember.
After that first glimpse of the past, he saw the grief, the anguish in your features. Even linked together, you didn't fully remember, and he couldn't quite force himself to make you. Still, he tried, creating familiar sights, familiar touches.
During that time, he learned more about you. Studied you as if you were a stranger.
He got to fall in love with you all over again.
Your face was different, the way you dressed and your style so unlike that which came before, but your nose was still the same. The way it scrunched when you glared at him, the main reason he couldn't help but still call you kitten.
Your eyes were the same, lighting up the same way they always did when you saw something cute. You look at the twins the same way she used to look at woodland creatures.
You had an affinity for calm, in the way she always craved chaos. Likely learned from the Doctor or the Prince. On your days off it was highly likely you'd fall into predictable days, arcade trips or long lazy nights inside. It was refreshing, soft in the way he wasnt used to.
Still, you excelled in chaos like it was second nature. The proud part of him liked to believe it was due to the half of your soul that was his. That he was the reason you were able to adapt so easily, to be resilient.
His favorite chaos was when you, the twins, and Mephisto would get up to no good. There was no better wake up call than the feeling of a sharpie marker on his skin, your body on top of his, and the poorly concealed laughter of his henchmen.
You healed their inner child, he liked to believe. They probably helped heal yours, too.
You had similar ticks as her, the same tells to your feelings, subconscious things that never quite changed even after lifetimes. But at the same time, you still found new ways to surprise him. Cute expressions he'd never seen before. Sometimes he wished his mind had a camera, Mephisto could only film so much.
When you talked, he was always reminded of just how new life was for you. Your reactions to things were so real, so raw. So unlike the seasoned reactions of his wife. It made him want to show you every thing, to let you experience everything you could.
Sylus was greatful, so greatful to love you like this. To experience and watch you grow into someone so unique.
He was sure she was happy too, he could feel it in his soul. Could you feel his awe in your soul too?
