advice that has literally saved and improved my life
I'm gay and I'm good at almost nothing
sonic....
TAKE HIM OUT OF THE WATER THIS IS BAD FOR THE SONIC
When I criticize jk Rowling do not assume I always hated Harry Potter. I knitted hogwarts house scarves. I got my first binder to dress as Draco Malfoy for Halloween. I reread the books multiple times. I read probably every pottermore article there was at the time.
I’m not here to validate your smug feelings about not liking a children’s book series 20 years ago. I’m here to discourage others from spending money on it and to give myself and others words and space to work through some feelings. I’m a trans person that made Harry Potter one of my cornerstone interests. One of my favorite things. I’m not some cis person doing cope.
Harry Potter was a big thing. Like. Big in a way that’s difficult to fully understand. It still is. If you were caught up in it during your formative years it’s normal to need to process all of the horrid things now associated with it.
Having to burn down the house you grew up in is going to be hard even if it turns out that the house was always rotten from the inside out. Even if it turns out that the foundation was made of straw. But the destruction and deconstruction must happen if one hopes to move on and move forward. That’s why I talk about it at all.
Your art isn't good, learn proper anatomy and stop drawing with your dick.
based as FUCK
I’m resharing this because I too have a dark side
it’s called a shadow, idiot
no shadow is the black and red one you dont know anything about sonic
i hate that nonbinary people can't be, like, nonbinary.
whatever we do, we can't win. we can't be seen as actually nonbinary. people binarize us and often mock us or get aggressive or dismiss and ignore our nonbinaryhood or something else.
if we don't medically transition, we are "just cis trenders."
if we do medically transition, we are "just [binary trans] eggs."
we are "technically transmasc or transfem anyways" if we don't use these terms.
we are lumped together with binary trans men and trans women if we do use these terms. our nonbinaryhood is ignored or seen as some kind of "gender-lite."
we are aggressively pressured to disclose if we're AFAB or AMAB, TMA or TME, transmasc or transfem, "boy nonbinary" or "girl nonbinary." and if we refuse to answer, people get double mad at us and pick something for us anyways.
if we show the slightest hint of something that could be interpreted as binary gendered, we are immediately binarised.
if we put a lot of effort into looking the most ambiguous or androgynous or neutral, people still try to find something. and they become aggressive. people often EXPLODE [PT: explode] when they can't gender someone by glance.
our ways of expression are constantly mocked and ignored (like neopronouns, nonbinary-centering labels for gender and orientation, basically all things that are associated with nonbinary people).
but if we choose more typical ways of expression (for example, use "he/him" or "she/her" pronouns), people use it to ignore and dismiss our nonbinaryhood.
we just can't win, and it's upsetting.
If you see this post you’re legally required to tell me at least one trans woman headcanons you have for a canonically male character, I never get to see transfem headcanons like that, give me them, and for equality of my own please know estrogen could have saved Insector Haga and Dinosaur Ryuzaki I will not elaborate, also Yuya.
in 2026 DO NOT ask yourself whether your art is GOOD
instead ask:

can everyone reblog with the interest of theirs that was the most intense or continued for the longest because i’m so curious
you’re literally so right about spamtenna and crew btw. I was feeling crazy like I was the only one before seeing your posts
hey thanks for giving me an excuse to talk about this at length LMAO
like. i don't dislike tenna and co. on principle. anyone who's followed my blog knows that tenna was my favorite newcomer when chapters 3 & 4 dropped. i only started having a problem when spamtenna started eclipsing nearly all other discussion about the game and its characters. even tenna's relationships with characters besides spamton, and to a lesser extent the mikes, stopped getting much focus in the fandom. filtering spamtenna means blocking pretty much every third post in the deltarune tag. it's a little irksome when i feel other characters deserve more of the spotlight.
regarding spamtenna...the ship just feels too stuck in the past for me. especially compared to something like mettatenna, which is also based in canon material but involves a fresh start for tenna. i think it's more narratively satisfying to see him move on from his old life in the dreemurr household, after we spent the whole of chapter 3 watching him cling desperately to a past that no longer exists.
i like tenna's relationship with spamton when viewed as another vehicle for chapter 3's themes. he's obsessed with the idea of a good relationship with spamton, how things could have been different and better, but the truth is they never were and never could be. the fandom-wide obsession with spamtenna has us dwelling in the painful nostalgia right along with him. that's part of the reason why the video from the newsletter—or rather, the resurgence in spamtenna discussion following it—kinda made my eye twitch. yes, those two were doomed, and yes, that's interesting, but tenna's life doesn't have to continue to revolve around The Divorce(s). the game gives you the choice to let him move on from that, actually. that cutscene, according to the newsletter, only plays if he's still in your castle town by chapter 5, feeling more lost than ever and enabled to backslide into his old ways.
anyway, i know i'm sounding a little bitter here, but i do want to be clear that i still think there's merit in examining spamton and tenna's relationship. i think it says a lot about the kind of characters they are, and the little ways in which they're intertwined are interesting. i just don't understand it being the center of so much fandom attention several months later. it amounts to a squick for me at the end of the day, but like, damn. i miss susie.
The best piece of writing advice I can give is that you should strive to be sincere rather than original.
You can't force originality. Originality will arise as a natural consequence of sincerity. Make the story completely and apologetically yours, and originality will come by virtue of it being your story.
