The last time an ICE officer of any division was killed by anything besides those was 2021, when an officer was shot in an accidental discharge. The last time anyone was shot by a hostile person was in 2011, when an agent in Mexico was shot and killed by drug dealers while traveling in a diplomatic vehicle. The last ICE agent killed in the USA was shot and killed in 2005 at the construction site of his home when he confronted an escaped fugitive who had murdered a judge, court reporter, and sheriff's deputy earlier that day. (The fugitive was a US citizen.)

(Among the other deaths in that time period were one of dengue fever, one of Hepatitis C, one heart attack, and one hit by a drunk driver.)
