(re)Listening to the season 1 of TMA while running (the jumpscare are great adrenaline boost) and it got me thinking about gertrude Robinson. And as we go farther in the podcast, we know the state of the archive was done on purpose, an “in case I failed” type of thing gertrude did for if she didn’t succeed in destroying the archive to slow down whoever would become the next archivist (maybe even slow down their transition into an avatar)

But I just realized that her preparation were even more thorough than it appeared because while the statements are a mess, they actually give a pretty great overview of the problem the next archivist might face

• There’s statement of all the different fear
• There’s statement about leitner and more specifically one that show (to anyone that has a bit of knowledge on the subject) that not all the leitner have been destroyed
• Even the “misfiled” older case are important since they give more info on Jonny magma Jonah Magnus

Anyway my point is Gertrude is even more badass than I thought and I love that

In the mood to make some people mad: for all the hate she’s getting, Nessa is actually quite similar to Glinda :

• Both come from a childhood where they had everything they wanted handed to them
• Both worked and were complicit with the fascist regime even though they knew it was bad
• Both (tried to) trap the man they love to keep them by their side (yes, a public announcement of an engagement you were NOT made aware of is, in fact, a trap, especially in the context it was done) and ended up losing them anyway
• Both ended up in a position of power they were not ready for
• Both tried to have Elphaba change/act in a way that suited them even if it went against Elphaba moral compas
• In the same vein both criticizing Elphaba decision to stand up for her belief (Glinda right after Elphaba took the grimery, Nessa when Elphaba visited her)
• Both ended up losing everyone they cared for (+her life for Nessa)

Like the biggest difference between the two of them is that Glinda is extremely popular and Nessa isn’t 🤷

Following up from my last post I’m realizing that what I really want in a time travel fix it fic is for Fiyero “will shoot anyone who try to hurt Elphaba” Tigelaar and Glinda “my BFF told me to do better before dying so now I’m overthrowing the government” to be highly over protective of Elphaba

They work out a three chance system:

-1st you get a verbal warning

-2nd offense get you a punch (intensity of the beat up depend on the intensity of the offense) from Fiyero

-3rd offense has Glinda using all her “public figure” training to destroy you socially in ways that will range from difficult to impossible to recover from and cannot be link back directly to her or Fiyero

Meanwhile Elphaba’s in the background trying to stop the Magician/protect the animals so she is mainly oblivious to her idiots shenanigans to defend her honor

I’m a big sucker for time travel (fix it) fic, they’re like Pic guilty pleasure fic for me so it’s no surprise that I’ve been thinking of a few variations of them where Elphaba Galinda and Fiyero are sent back to Shiz era to various level of shenanigans (maybe one day I’ll get to write those ideas down)

But tonight I realized that the funniest iteration of this kind of fix would be them time traveling back to the first day at Shiz and Galinda just. Trying to murder Morrible the moment she see her. Just. It’s on sight. No politics, no explanation, no finesse (just like post Elphaba “death”), just tries to fight her before she can get her hands on Elphaba.

People are bewildered, Morrible thinks her action comes from her refusal to teach her.

Would that solved the bigger problem? No, but Galinda honnestly wouldn’t care as long as Morrible can’t hurt Elphaba
