i dont like it when people take an evil character and they make them some flavour of bigot to like, “amp up” their villainy or whatever. esp when it’s tonally inappropriate. like that one post was right it IS always funnier when characters who suck are inexplicably allies

❄️- What’s your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?

Hm, I don’t so much have a dream plot as I do some elements I’d really love to see combined. Right now I’m really wanting to read some whump-heavy mp100 casefic that really leans into the spookier aspects of the show involving ghosts and spirits, and am especially interested in seeing that intersect in interesting or creative ways with aro/ace Reigen, which is a favorite headcanon.

I don’t currently have any plots of exactly that ilk up my own sleeve, and if I’m being entirely honest, what I always like reading the most is longfic, which I’m dubiously good at writing myself–not to mention I’m still getting a feel for writing for the fandom in the first place. Scribe currently has some story ideas that at least brush against a lot of those themes, which I’m really looking forward to reading. But maybe I’ll try my hand at putting something I’d especially like to read out in the world eventually, if a plot ever occurs to me.

🌿 - Give some advice on writer’s block and low creativity

I wish I had better advice honestly–writer’s block is a perpetual struggle for me, and I definitely go through periods with very low creative output. A lot of last year was like that for me and I am only just crawling out of that hole. The best I’ve got is to say that if it’s something that you, like me, have a hard time with, it’s really worth thinking about stories you most want to tell, but also which ones you can most realistically see yourself actually finishing. It really takes a combination of both–I’ve had fics I was excited about that petered out because they were too ambitious, or other things like that, and of course on the flip side there are ideas that are more manageable that I just can’t get interested enough in.

It can sting a little to be realistic about what you’re actually capable of–like I said above, I love longfic so much and also have a pretty frustrating relationship with actually finishing writing it, thanks to my ADHD–but I’m trying to get better at walking away from things that are a bad fit for me so I can spend my creative energy more wisely, and I think it’s valuable to think about.

🧩 - What will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?

I hate to say it, but quality of writing. I am pretty picky about fic in general, and definitely tend not to be able to struggle through things that aren’t at least decently well-written. Every once and a while I’ll try, for a particularly intriguing concept, but more often than not it results in my clicking away pretty quickly.

If that’s a cop-out answer, then poor characterization in particular also really gets to me. I want the characters in fic to actually feel like themselves, you know?

Congratulations on describing your desire to read Mob Psycho 100 in a way that is kind of also the plot of Mob Psycho 100.

📚 - What’s the last thing you wrote down in your notes app? 

I don’t actually use my notes app, because I hate typing on my phone! Sometimes I carry around a little notebook with me, but I seem to have lost the one I have been using.

All of this is very ADHD of me, I am aware.

Working on yourself is hard and sometimes it sucks a lot, but it is actually worth it. Like it literally always is.

🦴 - Is there a piece of media that inspires your writing? 

This is an interesting one as a fic writer, because of course there’s the media that I am writing fic about, but there are also other things I love and am inspired by that I’ve never written any fic for.

I’d say one example of the latter is probably the Locked Tomb series. Those books have a blend of humor and serious/dark tone that I really try to manage with my own writing, too, and really strong characterization and dialogue, which are two of the things I really try to focus on in fic. Another piece of media that checks some similar boxes is Severance, which I would say has also been inspiring as a creator in part because both pieces of fiction I mentioned are also just. Really fucking weird.

🥐 - Name one internet reference that will always make you laugh 

My dad and I once ended up in tears laughing as I tried to explain the concept of “none pizza with left beef” to him, so I’ve got a perpetual soft spot for that one.

🎨 - Link your favourite piece of fanart and explain why you like it

I don’t know that I can pick a favorite piece of fanart ever just because there are so many, but my phone lockscreen is currently this piece of BttF fanart by my friend @kit-screams-into-the-future featuring an important missing Doc and Marty hug. I love Kit’s style and it’s a really evocative little piece that always makes me feel emotions about The Characters.

🥤 - Recommend an author or fanfic you love

I’ve been poking my nose into mp100 fanfic recently and one of the ones that’s stuck with me ever since I first read it is Sensitive Period by fmet, which is a phenomenal gen Serizawa & Reigen casefic (already sort of a rarity) that feels like it really “gets” both characters, running with the trans!Reigen headcanon and everything about Serizawa’s backstory to compare the two of them as people that both missed out on having a normal male adolescence. I really need to sit down and write a proper comment on it, because it’s left such an impression on me, but it’s one of those ones where I felt like I needed to digest it a little first before gushing about it to the author.

🔪 - What’s the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

I truly don’t know what the weirdest ever would be, just because I research so many weird things, but recently it was going down a research spiral about Kit-Kat flavors in Japan (there are hundreds) that lead me to this website that lets you filter by the year they were released, too because I realized I had mentioned an anachronistic one in the fic I was working on (released in 2022, the fic is set in like 2014)

Been doing remarkably okay all things considered, especially since I’ve been home alone since I got back on the at the start of the month, but for whatever reason, today I’ve been missing Scribe so so much, and paired with everything else thats going on it’s kind of a lot.
