just learned that my uquiz “are you the soldier, the poet, or the king?” recently blew up on tiktok, leading to an influx of people taking it (864k and counting) and thus checking out my tumblr!! so hi if you’re new, don’t really expect anything in the same style from me (though i have other quizzes!), i made the quiz in 2020 and it was more a creative exercise for my friends than anything else :) i’m in a bit of a creative block right now and am trying to get back to regularly writing poetry. im happy to answer questions about it though!!

Queer film festival "Vues d'en face" in Grenoble, France.ALT

this is a long shot and i'm also vaguely doxxing myself, but this is important to me: the queer film festival i help organize is struggling financially. after our 25th edition, between the increase in operation costs and cutbacks on cultural funding, we're currently unable to start organizing the 26th edition.

we're entirely volunteer-run, this is a passion project that has managed to exist for over two decades while supporting international cinema and emerging artists, it is a big part of the local queer cultural life where i live, being part of it is very important to me, and if you can afford to donate some money to it i'd really, really appreciate it.

i very much realize that times are tough for everyone, that it's christmas, that this is for a festival in south-eastern france that you, the person reading this post, probably cannot go to at all, that culture is important but not an immediate concern for survival. i am aware of all this. but as i said, it's important to me! sharing this post is also much appreciated.

seeing some people (rightfully!) want to verify the legitimacy of the festival, so if you want pointers to do that: our instagram handle is @/vuesdenface, our website is vuesdenface.com — the website is janky especially on mobile, maybe one day we’ll be able to afford a web dev lmao, but you can scroll through basically every edition we’ve had including older, archived websites dating back to 2002.

feel free to reach out if you have questions on where the money’s going, but most of our costs go towards buying movie rights, renting the cinema’s room to screen the movies in, paying transport and lodging for guests (jury members, directors, performers) and paying artists (we also organise drag nights, theatrical shows, concerts…). we’re a team of fifteen-ish people, depending on the year, and all of us are volunteers. i’ve been part of the festival since late 2023!

Have you seen The Wedding Banquet (2025)?

Yes

No

I've never heard of this film

Final result: the majority of voters have NEVER HEARD OF this film.

This film is a remake of the 1993 film of the same name, though in this one it's not just a gay couple that are trying to hide their real partner but a lesbian couple is as well. It premiered at Sundance before getting a theatrical release.

I don't think it's streaming just yet. Edit: Netflix Australia. Crave in Canada. Not sure about the US.
