I understand that people have issues with ep 3, but I’m grateful for it bc it gave us the Scott/Shane fight and therefore all of these great posts on Tumblr.com

dont retreat emotionally. people like you and want you around. they like to talk to you, and you genuinely matter. you have to trust this through the hard times so you can get to the better times without sabotaging yourself. you are worth loving

Fic Rec Friday, week 21

This week, @carolrain asked: For this week's Fic Rec Friday, I'd like your recommendations for fics with characters writing to each other in them. Do you know a good epistolary fic, where they communicate through letters? Or do you love a story that's told through texts? Interpret this how you'd like.

I love a long distance relationship fic, probably because my spouse of 20+ years and I were in one for 3 and a half years (where we spent a cumulative 6 weeks together) before we got married. It's hard work, but I firmly believe it's possible with the right person. So this week I'm going to recommend two of my favorites.

In a Moment of Weakness, In a Moment of Strength by @goodiecornbread Not only is this a fantastic Bumpkin dating fic, but it introduced me to some truly wonderful photos of Dan and Noah that I hadn't seen before. Unfortunately, some asshat complained about the photos and the author had to take them out. But, the fic is still delightful even without the photos.

Wrong Number by Deenerann This is a delightful season 1 AU where David accidentally texts Patrick and they get to know one another long distance. The moment they finally meet is fantastic and lives rent free in my brain.

I’m nominating “Such Great Heights” by @likerealpeopledo-on-ao3, a delightful story with David as a Larry Air flight attendant while Patrick works a job that makes him fly all the time. I’ll be honest, it’s been a while since I read it, but know I loved it, and now I think I should probably take this as a sign to re-read it. :)

i'll defend fanfic for my whole life. like the joy it brings is genuinely transformative and indulgent in a way unique to the genre. it isn't meant for a market, it isn't meant to be sold or marketed. it is born out of such care and passion for a media that one must write and must share it, so other folks can enjoy it to. for no other reason than love and joy. do you know how special that is? especially in our current social and political climate.

I got to go to an actual sword museum to do sketches and research for swords! Which was a highlight of my summer! These boys are such lovable walking disasters, I adore them with my whole heart but also want to slap them repeatedly. Private sword lessons where the student's progress is hopeless but the flirting is through the roof 👌
