I Have Thoughts and I Must Share Them

@azure-clockwork

Bluejay | she/her | insomnia my behated | very lesbian | too ADHD to pick a single hobby | or to shut up ever | an adult, apparently

Hello y’all, and welcome to my blog! I’m Bluejay, but you can feel free to call me Jay (or Blue or Cool Hair or Neeeeeeerd or—). I use she/her pronouns.

I’m a dumbass with a shitty sleep schedule, a million different interests, a bad case of lesbianism, and the unfortunate ability to inflict all of the above on y’all. I’m also apparently a real adult with a job in aerospace; I’ll post about that too at some point, I promise.

This blog isn’t a serious thing with an actual theme, but rather a place for me to repost fanart and vomit my thoughts. I can’t promise posts on any one topic, but you’ll probably see things about engineering, fandom, adhd, being a lesbian, my hobbies, science, books, and of course insomnia. I also run a side blog where I post my poetry over at @andiloveyouinpieces if you wanna go read my attempts at sonnets.

Please feel free to talk to me; I’m frequently awake and bored and scrolling on my phone.

There is not really a good organizational system here, but if you wanna find my ramblings, most of them are under #tonight on late-night thoughts with jay. There’s a few more honest ones under #tonight on late night oversharing with jay. The explicit ones are under #horny thoughts with Jay. You can find things I’ve made under #tonight on late-night art with jay, though honestly, I need to go back and make sure I’ve tagged all my art. And finally, if you’re looking for my book reviews, check out #Late night book reviews with Bluejay. I’ll update this section if I ever actually organize this bullshit. Also, my blog is full of characters, so view the dramatis personae here!

january is one of those months where you experience every feeling on the human spectrum and you just have to go about your day like that isn't happening

every time I think about Dilbert I think about this comic and how the question being asked is Not Stupid and its answer is genuinely interesting and arguably very important information anyone using a computer should know

xkcd fans are the only fandom I've had direct experience with where people do the stereotypical nerdy fan thing of referring to installments of the thing they like by their release order numbers instead of their titles

like I've never heard anyone just say "the simpsons season 7 episode 21" without also saying the episode title but I have heard people say "xkcd 2501" without also saying the title of the xkcd

Yeah, we shouldn't expect everyone to know every comic by heart. The average internet user probably only knows 1053 and 936.

and 2501, of course.

Of course!

sigh

hold on

xkcd 1053:

xkcd 936:

and of course, xkcd 2501:

i think i just witnessed a miracle

There is always hope

coworker today was talking about how she tries to drive less to reduce her carbon footprint, so instead of ordering takeout she orders delivery. when I pointed out that this actually results in the exact same amount of emissions because the same amount of driving happens she said "yeah but it's not me driving." and I feel like any critique of progressive individualism I could make based on this would fall flat because like. what else is there to say? she summed up the flaws of individualist environmentalism better than most critics could, without intending to.

My 14 year old brother just took a drink of hot chocolate and hissed like he'd knocked back a shot of vodka then set it down and went "ah... that's the good stuff."

Just watched him lose a card game as badly as he could on purpose for the sole purpose of annoying the guy trying to run the game and when I was like what is wrong with you all he said was "that's how we do it down in Vegas"

I told him that this has 2k notes and the people love him and he completely deadpan went "wow it's everything I ever wanted" and then immediately accidentally set himself on fire in skyrim and died
