Google、NASAと共同で量子コンピュータラボを立ち上げ
米Googleは5月16日（現地時間）、米航空宇宙局（NASA）と協力し、量子コンピュータラボ「Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab」をNASAエイムズ研究所で立ち上げたと発表した。量子コンピューティングによる機械学習の研究が目的という。プロジェクトには大学宇宙研究協会（USRA）も参加している。 カナダの量子コンピュータ企業D-Wave Systemsの512量子ビットコンピュータを導入し、7～9月期から研究を開始する計画。 現行のコンピュータでは解決が難しい多様な問題──音声認識、Web検索、タンパク質の折り畳み問題など──を解決するためのモデルの構築に取り組むという。 Googleは既に、モバイル端末の消費電力認識システムなど、量子コンピュータで稼働する幾つかの機械学習アルゴリズムを開発しており、量子コンピュータによる機械学習は非常に創造的な問題解決
