Coming off of Barefoot Gen and When the Wind Blows breaks and terrifies you of nuclear energy and warpower so much- one a realworld horrific atrocity it's creator barely LIVED THROUGH, and the other a fictional one but one where you have to watch your two protagonists slowly and agonizingly die -you'd think just those films existence would be enough to never want someone playing with this stuff again....

...and then you hear Russia and Israel talk so happily about using nukes and you realize we've learned absolutely nothing as a society.

--Fifty actually good Free to Watch Animated Movies--

Most are on Tubi, of course, but I don't think you'll mind that. Get em while they're hot - please dm/pm with any potential triggercontent warnings that you think might be needed.

I especially recommend Mary & Max, Kubo and the Two Strings, Last Unicorn, The Wolf House, Ernest and Celestine, Rock & Rule, Hair High, and Nocturna.

They're all beautiful and absolutely worth your time while they're still on Tubi, Youtube, or just online at all.

β€œI love watching Barefoot Gen yay the gore horror is so uwu cool!” Barefoot Gen was vent art of the author’s own trauma. It’s horrific, yes, but it’s not an uwu β€œhorror blockbuster” made to entertain. It’s made to inform and educate.

It’s not even a fictional manga at that! It’s an educational manga about a real tragedy and was mainly autobiographical.

It’s really tone deaf and insensitive to include that in this list but go off.

β€œYay uwu I watch this horrific anime about a real person’s trauma while I clean and draw!!”

Hiroshima is a tragedy that could have been avoided if the evil JP government didn’t start a war with another evil government, America, who loves to do civilian bombings. It never should have happened and never would have happened a handful of facist shitheads never were born. How fucking dare you.

That movie depicts the suffering of real people.

Yes, we can separate the art from the artist.

And in this case, the art was about a wealthy man having sex with his child's nanny which the child witnessed. And then also there was that story he wrote about a wealthy author who kept the goddess Calliope prisoner and repeatedly raped her to gain inspiration, all while publicly calling himself a feminist, and kept her locked away for decades knowing that each time he raped her he would become more successful and win awards for his writing. And the artist? Well, he was a man who assaulted his children's nannies, sometimes IN THE BED WITH HIS CHILD, subjecting the child to witness adults having sex (which is a form of CSA), and who kept his repeated rapes hidden while he pretended to be a feminist, became more and more successful, and won awards for his writing.

But I'm really sorry your third season of Good Omens got cancelled. That must be so terrible for you.
