I just saw a post about someone writing a continuation of adventure 2020, which would be cool if their account didn't look like it was AI trying to pretend to be human. Like that was their only post, yet they were a writer. Their description was just a jumble of words that didn't sound like sentences, and, most notably, their pfp is AI. Kinda cringe ngl. I have my doubts they are actually writing it but rather asking AI to continue the story and then saying they did it.
Happy Odaiba Day! It's time for another rendition of Sloane's Digimon wrestling AU! Last time there was, a lot of drama. Lots of violence. Lots of Izzy being hurt and Tai going insane. This time we're going to be more chill and we're going to look at some other members of OWF who are not going through complete hell pain and suffering! First up...
Sora Takenouchi
Ok so, Sora is kind of a tricky one. And I say this because while I adore Sora, Toei. Doesn't. And it feels like they don't give her character nearly enough which is a shame because she has so much potential. I'm not going to delve too much into "man, it sure sucks how Sora always gets the shaft" but it sure sucks how Sora gets the shaft!
I will say though, in terms of who I can see her as? That feels really easy in that I see her as a Hikaru Shida type really clearly.
I see her as being a really strong face who is like. Kinda butch. Very androgynous with it. I also think about her being a fashion designer in the epilogue and am thinking that she designs and makes all of her ring gear? So whenever she switches to something new it's like, a BIG DEAL because she's debuting a Sora Takenouchi original design and then promptly going into the ring to beat someone up lmao. That feels like her kind of vibe.
I also think, for obvious reasons, Sora has a lot of past history with Tai and Matt early on in their wrestling careers back when they were all wrestling in the indies and whatnot. I can totally see the three of them teaming up for an intergender tag match, or Sora against one of them (since that would be way more likely for an independent promotion over a big company like OWF). Point is, she has a long, storied past with the guys, and I imagine early on as Matt gets caught up in the Dark Masters, she tries to talk some sense in him only for him to tell her he's doing this for the good of the company, etc. etc. Likewise, she tries to intervene as Tai starts spiraling out of control.
Of course, Tai doesn't listen, because he's Tai, and tries to insist he can handle everything, just another bit of him pushing everyone he knows, loves, and cares about away as he plummets downwards after what happens to Izzy.
Knowing that these two guys are too stupid for their own good, she decides to focus on making the Women's Division the best it can be. She probably has the most seniority there in terms of the women so she tries to make the locker room a safe, positive place in light of everything that goes right.
Her finisher is DEFINITELY the Wings of Love (based after her option card in the Digimon TCG)! I'm imagining it similarly to Willow Nightingale's Babe With The Bomb (though I like to imagine her doing it while running???)
Just feels like a hella powerful hit that would be perfect for Sora.
I'm also imagining that she helped out Kari and Yolei in their early days with training, so there's a lot of kinship there in this very experienced woman who has been through the trenches doing what she can to help out these two women find their footing in the industry.
As for her story stuff... well, I have thoughts, but given some stuff in the greater narrative I have in mind, you'll have to wait and see!
Now, though, it's time for maybe my most anticipated one, the fashion queen of Odaiba herself...
Mimi Tachikawa
Oh how I have been looking SOOOOOOO forward to this! One of my favorite Digimon characters, and oh are there so many wrestlers I can pull for her in terms of inspiration. So let's get started!
Japanese wrestler Saki Akai (aka Sakisama) is a HUGE one. Effortlessly elegant and beautiful, with an INCREDIBLY gimmick (french aristocrat who also wrestles alongside her maid for tag matches, like come on). I definitely feel Mimi, when starting out and probably a bit shakier in terms of her wrestling ability, would definitely go for a route like this in the indies: a very memorable gimmick that the people will love to help win hearts while she works on her own skills.
Second up, I would be absolutely REMISS if I did not call Mina Shirakawa in here. I think the absolute, super extroverted energy is a dead ringer for Mimi. She's fun, sexy, wants to make sure everyone knows it, and ALSO wants to make sure everyone knows not just that, BUT that she has the skills to back it up by the time she gets into OWF. An absolute killer who the people love love LOVE, and who wouldn't? It's Mimi!
AND OF COURSE, LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE CEO, MERCEDES MONE!!! Though I don't think Mimi would have the ego or the heel nature by any means, the sheer success that Mercedes has in terms of how many belts she has, how big of a name she is, those would all be big things for her. Rich, fabulous, and loving every minute of it. I can also see Mimi, like Mercedes, donning new ring gear each week (a lot of which was probably designed by Sora, of course).
She has an outfit for every occasion!!!
I think Mimi just has such great joshi wrestler energy and would be SUCH a hit. Starts off a bit shaky early on in the indies, but by the time she joins OWF she's definitely set to skyrocket.
She's also SUCH a babyface, like come on, it's Mimi. She couldn't be a heel even if she tried. She would NEVER be evil! She's there to be a good guy and help with the women's division, much like Sora!
In terms of moves I've had a few thoughts, one is she would definitely have Lightspeed Jabbing like Togemon, similar to how Samoa Joe will just go in and hit some rapid jabs. (I don't have any gifs of this unfortunately, but it's Samoa Joe just hittin' a dude)
In terms of finishers, it's OBVIOUSLY the Flower Cannon, and I'm thinking Brody King's Cannonball Run
(This is the best I can find, sorry, just imagine this but not with other people coming in for the assist, just Mimi running and leaping at a person before curling herself up in a cannon ball). The idea of Mimi being a hard hitter is VERY funny to me but I guess she is now!
Of course, a lot of Mimi connects to the next person on this list...
Joe Kido
JOE RULES (that's the chant the crowd calls for Joe when he's on fire in a match, everyone just starts losing it screaming JOE RULES) (because he rules)
Ok, I have TWO wrestlers in mind for Joe and I think they're both great. First:
KAZUCHIKA OKADA!!!! Of course Joe would NEVER call anyone a bitch OR flip them off, that would be very rude. Joe is a complete and utter face he's such a sweet boy. He's tall, he's built, he's like, the biggest guy in OWF (at least in terms of height) and he is just, an incredibly hard hitter and great wrestler all around. It's also from Okada that Joe gets his finisher, the Wave of Reliability, from his BT14 option card in the Digimon TCG:
I love using these BT14 option cards as finisher names for the kids because they're SUCH good names. It definitely would be Okada's Rainmaker.
Just a fucking hard hitting, close up lariat that just messes your shit up and spins you silly. Joe is a big guy so like, he should get a big hit (much like Tai gets). I just know he hits this and everyone fucking SWOONS and goes nuts.
In terms of other wrestlers, I'm definitely thinking Katsuyori Shibata.
Again, big, objectively handsome man, built, incredibly skilled wrestler.
Also, the group I watch wrestling with always posts the poultry leg emoji when Shibata comes out, and we all talk about how he has the turkey leg in his shorts, because, well, you can't see it super well, but he uh. Yeah. He's very endowed. Much like, as I've talked with Digimon oomfs, Joe! So obviously it makes sense. It makes sense!
Also, every time he comes out to the ring, he's accompanied by Mimi! I like to imagine she sort of acts like, his manager, in a way? Obviously they are a couple (because it's me making this AU, I get to choose the ships) but she's also like his manager. I just like to imagine the ring announcer going "Accompanied by Mimi Tachikawa, DOCTOR. JOE. KIDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" and everyone losing it while Mimi gestures grandly to her man.
Like. They need it. They deserve it.
Whenever Joe wrestles she gets on commentary, too, kind of like a Don Callis (except everyone loves when Mimi gets on commentary). She is always there to hype him up, and she claims she's a perfectly unbiased commentator when shouting shit like "KICK HIS ASS SWEETIE!" And she also makes tons of innuendos about his physical capabilities and his strength. She's probably the first one to make a joke about the Katsuyori Shibata turkey leg he's got and everyone goes nuts including the other commentators. Everyone loves it. It just endears everyone to him even more and when he's asked about it, he's just a stammering mess while somewhere Mimi is grinning.
I think Joe is probably mostly trying to stay out of things when it comes to the mess that is the Tai/Matt/Izzy/TK vortex of depression and anger and pain. He's a good boy, he shouldn't have to deal with that shit. I imagine at some point, Joe and Tai (in the throes of his pure "I hate Matt and TK and I'm going to make them suffer" heel arc) are teaming up together to fight Matt and TK and it goes HORRIBLE. I'm thinking "Hangman abandoning The Elite so he can kill Swerve". When Tai is in the ring, he completely refuses to tag Joe in so he can wail on TK or Matt. At some point Joe forcibly tags himself in because he wants to actually *win* the match, and when Joe DOES need to end up tagging out, Matt has taken advantage of Tai's narrow focus on him and distracts him outside of the ring so TK can get a pin.
Also, god, the thought of Mimi and Joe intergender tag matches is SOOOOOOOOOO good, like, can you imagine??? Joe hitting the wave of reliability, knocking the guy they're facing down, the guy gets up, stumbles back into the corner of the ring and then Mimi hits the Flower Cannon and just absolutely dizzies him before Joe tries for the pin. Joe puts the guy in a full nelson and Mimi hits the Lightspeed Jabbing, so much good stuff.
This also has me imagine a scenario in the lead up to said intergender tag match where this happens:
Joe: Mimi’s been getting better and better and it’s gonna show without a doubt. The two of us have been wrestling lately and— Commentator: A couple of lovebirds like you I bet you have. Joe: I’m gonna stop talking now.
I am going to leave this extraordinarily long post off on this, I think (because we definitely needed a high note after the last post lmao). What better way to finish this post than making Joe suffer.

It's been over a year since I've updated PdA (!!!!!), so if this is the first time you're seeing this fic, it's an ensemble piece starring slowburn Sorato. It's a royalty/cafe AU combo set in the 1930s in "this is not actually Japan because internet research has failed me." There's also a lot of Yamato/Jyou brotherhood, themes of class, and a really cute HUGE dog. Also Daisuke is there, grinning handsomely. And Osamu is alive and well! Maybe not thriving, but alive!
