  5. Near-Sighted Angel
    by Gwil Owen
Currently my favorite track, as I am driving a CD only vehicle with suicide doors…2bad it’s not available for sale on CD, but I have Flying Dream and other CDs to listen to. Heckuva banger album that may be the missing link between the Thieves and Gwil’s solo work…but what does an idiotfanchild know?!? Only what eye here going in2 my ears…

  7. Can't Steal My Fire: The Songs of David Olney
    by New West Records
I have quite a few New West records but I need to say up front thanks to everyone who contributed to this album to pay respects to the late David Olney.

So as not to hurt anybody’s feelings, I am not going to pick a favorite song. As the idiotfanchild, I do not know some of the artists on this album, but if they are on here, they probably fit the artists I follow and have a good chance of being among the artists I describe in my profile. If not, they still contributed to a pioneering spirit.THX
  8. Flying Dream
    by Gwil Owen
Diggin' a Hole Diggin' a Hole
This album is a banger, and while I chose Diggin’ a Hole as my favorite track, Cinnamon Sparkles and the rest of the album are all great tracks.

Gwil Owen albums are in a pantheon of albums/artists who create cover to cover great songs. I think Gwil may be the most diverse artist in my pantheon of great artists whose music changes from track to track, and it’s always exciting!

Thanks for your continued excellence in music, Mr Owen!
  9. The Last Man on the Moon
    by Gwil Owen
The Kiss of Death The Kiss of Death
I like this album from another time and space. The Kiss of Death is a funny song (unless you are the victim) about superstition in the arts, where things like break a leg are preferred rather than have a great show. There’s a line about if you want me to sell a million, don’t compare me to (Bob) Dylan. Coffee went everywhere the first time I heard that line. I still listen from cover to cover, so I like all the songs Gwil puts out.

  10. Gravy
    by Gwil Owen
My favorite track is every single song Ive ever heard from Gwil.

So, it’s a nice focus group question but feel like my answer to this box is neatly contained in first sentence of this transmission and is my only answer across all his offerings on Bandcamp and beyond…perhaps. Who knows what aces he has up hi sleeve?🤷

  11. Do You Take Me For a Fool?
    by Toni Price
Wow! I recently found out Toni passed, and saw Eddie twice the year before he passed. So RIP Toni, you Austin songbird!

Gwil, thanks for sharing this song with the world. And also for transferring tape to the digital realm. I look forward to hearing more of your old tapes and stuff like this until your next release, which I am glad to see that you’re cutting it with many of the surviving members of Ms. Toni’s Austin players who always seem to bring their best to your songs!

    RIP Toni✌️

  13. Hamster Wheel
    by David Olney
    David,

It’s good to hear both you and Gwil’s version of this song. When listened to side by side, I swear I hear the exuberance of your earlier years. And whether I am imagining it or not, I love it, and hope you did too. How many unpublished/ unreleased songs still remain? I pity the person who does a deep dive into your body of work, a task not unlike swimming the English Channel

Keep rattling chains and let Gwil and the cool kids unearth more treasures from you.

    Back to my Hamster Wheel..
  14. The Road to the Sky
    by Gwil Owen
Heaven in Our Hands Heaven in Our Hands
I love good music and Gwil is a songwriter extraordinaire. His body of work I have discovered to date are always treasures I will cherish forever, but this album strikes a different level of writing, wherein I think he pays homage to the latel David Olney, a contemporary of Gwil’s, so I love all 12 tracks equally. There are many great lessons to be found in this collection, as well as diversity in mood and room for the listener to attach their own meaning to his songs .. a heavy masterpiece.
  15. I'm Not Coming Home
    by Benny Rye
This track is beautiful… hauntingly so. The vocals remind me of Bob Neuwirth. You guys are in a league of your own. Just a simple love song that is a heartbreaker either way the wind blows through soul… Gwil, please keep releasing your tapes here for us survivors. RIP to all the fallen angels who left behind a legacy of beautiful sounds. You pen a mean song✍️✌️
