In Classical Music it seems to me that Composer and Interpreter are often seen as indivisible...Beethoven/Karajan...Mahler/Bernstein...I propose Zappa/Palermo should be afforded that same consideration.

Ed Palermo remains on a mission to remind us, first and foremost, of what a wonderful composer Frank Zappa was.
For me Zappa’s unique sensibility and approach to music has found an equal in Ed’s interpretation of it…rigorous, intelligent, uncompromising and mixed with humour and irony. Moreover, it keeps FZ relevant and in the vanguard of necessary listening…

With the benefit of age and perspective this doesn’t seem so much like a “war” as a game of football in No Man’s Land on Christmas Day… impossible and unnecessary to pick a side thanks to Ed Palermo’s obvious love for both sub-genres (it’s all great music after all).
His arrangements are literally ‘off the charts’…I’m in awe of his creative imagination, the stellar level of musicianship throughout and the total exuberance of it all…
