  1. Undir Köldum Norðurljósum
    by Kælan Mikla
    Magical, dark and lovely.
  2. The Phantom Carriage

The Burden of Love and Death The Burden of Love and Death
The perfect soundtrack to the dark silent film that plays in my mind every time I listen to it.
  3. Takk...
    by Sigur Rós
    Takk... Takk...
One of those albums that is near impossible to pick a favorite track. In fact it is even difficult to separate the individual tracks as the album plays so very well as a whole. It walks a path from gentile and sparse to incredibly dense and energetic while always staying beautiful.
  4. Valtari
    by Sigur Rós
    Dauðalogn Dauðalogn
Moving, etherial and organic. Please don’t ever stop doing what you do Sigur Rós.

    Griðastaðr Griðastaðr
Transports one to another time and space. Somehow remembering a time where simple truth prevailed. We all can use a little of that. I can not wait to get their other albums. A new and inspiring favorite.
  6. Hin helga kvöl (24-bit HD audio)
    by Sólstafir
    Vor ás Vor ás
A sound that is raw yet leaves space for the melodic. An album with great personality and contrast.
  7. Múr (24-bit HD audio)

    Eldhaf Eldhaf
Love the first track Eidhaf, it has such a great balance of the heavy to melodic elements. Admittedly its a bit hard core for my usual fair but such excellent guitar work! The albums production helps set it above much in a similar genre.

Landing somewhere between j-rock and electronic this first small offering
    hopefully will lead to more.

    やめるときも、すこやかなるときも やめるときも、すこやかなるときも
Music bridges culture and reminds us all we are human and those true family ties are more than any of our differences. I do not speak or read Japanese, I do not even know the "name" of this band as it is all presented in Japanese. Yet I had tears in my eyes listening to track 7.
It is a great album start to finish. Don't let there be a language gap, this music is bigger than that.

    WALK WALK
I am la long time listener of j-rock. I never understood how it never really caught on in the rest of the world. I rate it a strong yet somewhat invisible influence in my own music. I'm so glad to hear a band from Toronto Canada creating tunes that rival the best from Japan.
