I want a dachshund or other small dog because it seems like a good middle ground
Sorry for the unsolicited advice, but please do think it over. Dachshunds (and many other small breeds) actually require quite a lot of activity and exercise (mental and physical)*. If those needs aren’t met, that can cause so many difficult behavioral problems. They’re working dogs, after all: if they aren’t given a job, they’ll find one themselves (and it’ll be likely something very annoying or unpleasant to you)
*yes, it does depend on the individual dog, but the general tendency points to those breeds being high energy
#tons of small breeds were made specifically to hunt small fast animals so like. don’t get a small dog thinking it’ll be easier#dachshunds were bred to hunt badgers. do you want a dog with the need to hunt badgers or do you want a little dude to hang out with#if it’s the latter just get a cat
Also, a lot of people who do like cats want a Maine Coon because they’ve seen pictures of mine or others’, and they’re majestic! Huge!! Fluffy!!! Such a good kitty!!!!
Maine Coons are dog-smart, and basically tiny thumbless toddlers who will never grow up. They have long memories, they hold grudges, and they want things the way they want them. What you want is probably not a Maine Coon. I love them, but jumping from “cat” to “Maine Coon” is like jumping from “dog” to “border collie”. Don’t do that unless you know what you’re getting into.

joining the war on kids reading any book they want on the side of kids reading any book they want. simply you will be fine. it’s even good to be confronted with things you don’t understand and even find upsetting, uncomfortable and difficult. it’s a surprise tool that will help you later.

literally ok so not a funny story but kind of funny? when I was nine I encountered rape in a book and I was like hey mom what’s this mean and she explained it and I was like oh. gross. and then like two weeks later a girl on the bus abruptly disclosed her csa and we were all like ????? what ???? but I was like wait hang on there’s a word for that ☝️🤓 and explained what it meant and that it was illegal and that you could talk to a teacher or my mom if it had happened to you and everyone was like ohhhhh I see I see and very somberly comforted the girl (she was safe she was removed from her home and living with my neighbor at the time so it wasn’t Urgent)
And this is a perfect illustration of why it is important for kids to read or variety of things, and why abusers don’t want them to.

“you can’t hate ICE agents for wanting a fat paycheck” ah yes. people who are willing to disregard all morals for cash. congratulations you played right into their hands you uneducated piece of shit
you couldn’t pay me an amount even feasible to do this evil shit. you are lower than dirt
This. You can and should judge people for working for ICE, they’re people who willingly signed up for an American secret police force that’s violating the rights of people constantly in order to act as enforcers of a fascist government.
Basically everyone is not an ICE agent. Like, virtually all of us, the entire population, are not ICE agents. No matter how steep our bills are, very nearly every single American is not an ICE agent.
We can, and should, judge them forever. It should be the sort of thing their grandkids are ashamed to discover. The sort of thing that hamstrings a career forever. “What were you doing in 2025-26? Oh, you were with ICE? Thank you for your time, get out right now.”
They should all be judged and shunned for the rest of their lives.
The funniest thing I’ve learned in the last day is that the “$50K bonus” only pays out after 5 years of service.
Like, lmao, you thought Trump was gonna give you a big chunk of cash? Silly.
I wonder what the actual pay is, and whether that additional 10K a year makes it a livable wage.
99% of them will never get that money regardless bc agents are washing out and quitting faster than they can handwave more through because, well…
Also, there’s nothing preventing a massive layoff in 4 ½ years. It’s not like we have a President who has a history of not paying for shit.

Some of you think of Cops as kind of a symbolic figure representing “telling you what to do” & you’re Posting things like “acab includes fandom discourse” and I thuink the 80% white website needs to remember the reason why we hate cops is because they kill people
We hate cops because they’re a weapon for enforcing the state’s interests through violence. Like, they kill & imprison people. The antis don’t have a Quite Literal boot on your neck please god log off or talk to a Black person or something
To be SO fair like really generous there is something to be said for unlearning the habit of figuratively “policing” other people especially in the context of, like, not being a fucking snitch, “kill the cop in your head” etc etc, but can we not completely lose the plot re: what cops Are

How short are people’s memories for them to forget that Airbnb, streaming, Uber used to all be cheap
Mobile services used to also be cheap.
this isn’t some new invention of amazon and silicon valley, by the way, it’s just how the capitalist market operates. supermarkets originally undercut local groceries in the same way, because they had more weight to throw around, and could take a loss in one spot that was made up in another. it’s a general tendency towards monopolisation.
