it seems obvious to me (and no doubt smarter people have already theorized about this) that a lot of the stigma and shame around anal stems from homophobia and transmisogyny, like the notion that cis women who enjoy it must necessarily be promiscuous perverts and likewise its construction as a particularly humiliating or sexually violent act to ‘inflict’ on others cannot be separated from its association with gay men and trans women; and i know and you know and we all know that fandom fujos are no less homotransphobic than your average offline cishet woman; and yet it still baffles me how they will spend years moving in bl spaces and engaging with gay porn without ever questioning their vision of anal as something dirty, painful, that one enjoys in spite of and not because, a lesser substitute to the real and proper penis-in-vagina sex that cishet people engage in! like how come you can internalize that vaginal penetration needn’t be painful or unpleasant and yet can’t seem to reach the same conclusion about anal? open the schools!

It’s interesting how Arcee never romantizices violence despite it being such an important aspect of her identity, which puts her in contrast to Megatron (but really Cybertronians at large) who lived similar experienced of being left with nothing else to survive. But Megatron made violence the meaning of his life to the point the war is just an excuse so he doesn’t have to stop fighting whether he wants to accepts this or not. But Arcee is too straightforward to elevate violence to more than it is. Yes, it’s what she understands best and yes, she does enjoy it and being good at it. But it’s ultimately a means to an end, you can’t derive meaning from it.
Like, at first I wanted to say something about Arcee judging OP for megop as she does for shockop, but shipping aside, it’s undeniably that Optimus and Megatron feel like they have a connection and this connection was formed through violent encounters. Meanwhile Arcee has always been alone, she knows you cannot forms bonds through violence. This is even what separates her from her twin, who was the closest person to her, bc Galvatron is quite happy to fight and conquest for its own sake, while Arcee is horrified at Cybertronian expansionism. Even when she thinks she can bond with Sideswipe over their blood-knight disposition, she’s still hypocritically rejected for being too violent.
And like, I’ve talked before about how she really isn’t worse than your average war veteran, but people like to pretend she is to feel better about themselves, with many factors feeding into her otherization like her gender and trauma. But the fact that she doesn’t bother to dress up her violence could very well be another factor. It ruins the pretension Cybertronians could have for themselves.
And this is probably another reason why Optimus favours her once he gets to know her. Because he knows he can’t solve anything through violence but it’s kinda the only thing he knows how to do and he feels bad about how good he is at it and about how he enjoys it at times. Things Arcee also feels bad about.
