Everyday I can’t wait to see all the cool new stuff everyone is coming up with, I have been binging ao3 like an animal, but I truly think this epic failure of a season is a blessing in disguise for all of us to give up on what’s not for us and to create a new way of being for ourselves. That’s really powerful when you think about the amount of people all choosing to take up space. We are all changing the collective narrative into something more beautiful.

Artists, screenwriters, future directors and producers, outcasts… we can do something huge together if we want to!!

It would have been so simple as to make a 10 second or less scene where Jane hints to Kali that she has some sort of plan. Literally ‘I might have an idea’ could be perfectly placed right after Hopper convinced her not to follow through with offing herself. That way we would have been able to go into Kali’s death scene questioning if it was an illusion and then from that point on the idea of Jane surviving is, at least, the slightest bit plausible. That’s how you leave something to an audiences interpretation: by showing somethingggg a narrative fork in the road ike DAMN these sickos really thought they were inception-ing us

Will’s powers were sooo underutilized by the douches! Like you’re telling me Will is physically and psychically linked with the antagonist who uses his deepest trauma against him but Will learns to draw on their connection and use the antagonists power against him only its both a blessing and a curse (vecna’s curse) because of their connection/being a part of the hive mind Will feels all of the pain he inflicts AND by season 2 logic killing the big bad would also kill him?????

That’s str8 out of an anime I would binge in two days

Don’t forget Jane’s entire backstory too 😭 like we could have had it allllllllllllll

Evil byler is a joke!! Also I racked my brain for 20 min and these are like all the possible options I could think of

I don’t want to assume anyone’s sexuality or be parasocial or invasive but +100,000 queer people relate to Finn playing Mike as an in the closet queer character. People with Film theory DEGREES and JOBS wrote essays and articles and made videos. I’ve seen a theory about Ross Duffer’s ex-wife Leigh Janiak being a byler backbone and after their divorce they abandoned the story line.

if that’s the case then Finn and Noah both thinking byler would happen while they were filming season 4 from context and narrative choices alone would make sense, it would explain their seasons 2-4 chemistry, it would explain why we got so many more Will and Mike scenes than any other pairing for those two. If that’s the case then it would have been a direct jab at Leigh to build Byler up in vol 1 just to tear it down in vol 3 like damn that’s cold.

But if it is true then it wouldn’t really make sense for Mike be so in the closet coded at the end of s5… unless Finn was making those choices on purpose to give us queer crumbs (lol queer crumbs)

Make it make sense: do you guys think Finn Wolfhard was actually trying give us Byler crumps in season 5? The way he was eyeing Will’s binder while he cried, the way he kept saying sorcerer and looking at him…

The only problem is that would be a nuanced choice and hard to pull off and with the way he was moving in season 5 towards his ENDGAME relationship I honestly wonder about that boy. Was he acting distant to eleven on purpose to give us crumbs?? Was he directed to do that because of queer bait?? Was it just a director issue? Was it because he and Millie really didn’t want to do their scenes??

Again it would be nuanced and hard to pull off right so then why did he pull off being the ‘best written queer character of all time’?? On accident?? I’m laughing because wtf is going on

It didn’t help that Finn and Noahs chemistry was superior to he and Millie’s. Plus Byler scenes were designed specially to highlight them as a pair, they mirror romantic pairs to the T so I know that also creates this environment where it’s easier to see them romantically regardless of their personal acting performances but I guess I just find Finn’s acting choices to be thought provoking, especially in season 5.

But reading the article about how the duffers never actually had a conversation with Noah about Will being gay… he found out by reading the script and ‘at that point it was obvious’ like… makes me wonder if the duffers would have been smart enough to create a nuanced in the closet queer character and coach Finn through that in season 4.. which again leads me to the was Finn doing it on purpose or on accident dilemma 😭

Maybe all of the queer baiting was just queer baiting… maybe I’m queelusional… maybe I’m quazy… maybe I’m out of my quind

now let’s talk a bit more about how noah was treated by the duffers. noah has mentioned how he struggled when journalists would ask him about will being gay because they would then also ask personal questions about his sexuality which was very difficult for him since he wasn’t ready in his own personal journey to deal with that. let me remind everybody that noah was a child for most of the time the show was filming.

noah explains that the duffers never sat him down to explain that will was gay which makes it seem like they never put that much thought about developing that aspect of his character. later on, it looks like they all had this silent agreement and understanding since noah noticed like all of us that will was meant to be gay. so here we can see how the duffers just threw him to the wolves because they either wanted to have will’s sexuality as a plot twist which is a very insensitive thing to do or that they were cowards that didn’t want to admit until the last minute that they had a queer main character on such mainstream show so they let a child deal with explaining it. it would’ve been so easy to sit with him and guide him how to answer or even make some sort of statement saying “yes will is written to be gay but he’s still growing up, keep watching to see how his story develops” which wouldn’t expose anything plot wise but would protect their young child actor from invasive questions. now that it’s out in the open, they elevate themselves as proud allies that wanted to make it right for will and noah. now they are finally saying that will was always meant to be gay and it was written in the show’s bible.

i think it was super insensitive to deal this way with will’s sexuality while working with a child actor. at the end of the day, noah being gay just like will is a coincidence. throwing some random child actor to deal with all this shows lack of care and understanding of queer storylines.

now years later, noah came out and had more definitive thoughts about will’s queer arc based on his own experiences being a young gay man. they had him waiting and waiting for it, and when asked if he had any input, he said he didn’t want to overstep which speaks for itself. he also was the one who suggested a scene between will and mike getting some closure because the duffers didn’t think about that at all. noah is the only one who thought that fans who invested their time and energy into that relationship deserved closure as well which also tells me what the duffers think about their fans.

i can’t help but think what would’ve been of will if noah wasn’t gay considering how misguided the duffers seem to be while dealing with queer storylines which shows us again the importance of queer representation in tv productions specially in the writers room because at the end of the day, this weight shouldn’t fall on the actor’s shoulders because they don’t write the show and their real life sexuality shouldn’t matter in the writing if we have writers that are truly committed to the characters.

to end this, i have to say that it’s funny how ross can shade people and respond to rumors on his ig all the time but it was crickets when we had so many homophobes mocking will’s coming out scene (including the owner of a big social media platform) and attacking noah, an openly gay actor that they should try to protect if they truly believe in allyship.

This could mean that either the whole thing was made up in mikes mind or el and kali somehow made it out of the upside down undetected before the rest did and got far enough away to use their powers but were also close enough to use their powers….
