i'm SO curious to find out what jem and tessa and the blackthorns & co. (minus dru since she already knows) think happened between kit and ty since we know that at least kit is loudly incapable of being normal about ty (staring miserably at a stranger while jem is literally just trying to do the shopping, telling julian he can like. Hide in a room in his OWN HOUSE so julian doesn't have to see him) and NEITHER of them will discuss it or entertain it as a topic of conversation
like what could possibly explain this dynamic in their minds they must have theories

so far from kit we've seen him walking in the freezing night in his pjs because he had a dream about ty, thinking with absolutely zero prompting that ty probably thinks he looks bad, insisting he's still mad and that they don't talk about their problems and never speak again, literally incapable of not worrying about ty being cold approximately 10 minutes after saying all that, and jealous of a cat... THIS is true teenager representation thank you king

reminder that kit said in sobh he talks to a ghost who lives in the refrigerator at cirenworth who is a "surprisingly good listener" and since kit has a soda can in that tlkof snippet he theoretically got it from there
anyway all this to say kit opening the fridge and the ghost seeing ty and going "omg waitttt is that the boy you were telling me about, that's so crazy he-" and kit has to be like NOT NOW PLEASE and shut the door very quickly before ty hears privileged information

kit becoming a nepo baby in the absolute worst way possible is so funny to me, like yeah two strangers save his life because of his ancestry and technically he is offered a lifetime of guaranteed employment through the shadowhunters but the job is child soldier almost guaranteed to die young and horribly, his only living blood relative is listing benefits of the herondale name for him but those benefits are antique real estate in central london and an invisible country, his other inheritance is royal lineage in a place he has never been, has no interest in being in charge of, and whose line of succession is already being hotly contested by people with much stronger claims to the throne who definitely will attack him for it or try to use him to get it even though he doesn't want it, and it comes with a cursed bloodline, assassins who can't die trying to murder him, and magic powers that almost killed him the one time they worked

kit growing up moving place to place, having a fake name to protect his real identity, running away from an unknown threat with his father who, even though did everything to protect him physically, never thought about his mental well being, about his need for love and comfort
kit learning to observe people, see what makes them tick as a survival skill, but always from afar, never having any real, meaningful interaction with other people
kit not having anyone in the world to go to, to love him, up until his found family
kit lying about his identity to everyone he loves, and playing the martyr to protect them

genuinely one of my favorite things in tsc ever is kit going to live w jem and tessa. i think even if kit and ty didn’t have a falling out, kit still should’ve gone to live with jem and tessa. jem took to being kit’s father figure immediately and you can tell he loves kit so much. he listened to kit go on and on about things jem already knows. and jem can train him one on one. jem also understands kit’s loneliness. tessa was able to let kit really see his mother and share stories about her and how much she loved kit and how she did everything for him. you can tell they both care about him so much. and kit loves being a big brother so much and his bond with mina is so adorable. kit finally knows what it like to be part of a loving family and that’s beautiful. everything about it is just so perfect. i love the little carstairs family so much. i think kit should pull a jace and go by christopher jonathan herondale carstairs.
