Honestly, I love it when characters relapse. When someone who’s gotten over their anger issues falls into a situation so out of their depth they fall back on their old habits. When someone who’s learned to open up becomes a recluse again in order to cope with something outside their control.

There’s just something so horrible, so toxic, about watching a character grow and then slip back into their old selves in order to cope, bc you know they still care, that they’re the same inside, but watching them hurt so hard they don’t know what else to do brings a sense of catharsis.

How to use Em Dash (—) and Semi Colon ( ; )

Since the ai accusations are still being thrown around, here's how i personally like to use these GASP ai telltales. 🦄✨

  • Em Dashes (—)

To emphasize a shift / action / thought.

They're accusing us—actually accusing us—of using AI.

To add drama.

They dismissed our skills as AI—didn't even think twice, the dimwits—and believed they were onto something.

To insert a sudden thought. Surely they wouldn't do that to us—would they?

To interrupt someone's speech. "Hey, please don't say that. I honed my craft through years of blood and tears—" "Shut up, prompter."

To interrupt someone's thoughts / insert a sudden event.

We're going to get those kudos. We're going to get those reblogs—

A chronically online Steve commented, “it sounds like ai, idk.”

  • Semi Colons ( ; )

To join two closely related independent sentences / connect ideas.

Not only ChatGPT is capable of correct punctuation; who do you think it learned from in the first place?

Ultimate pro tip: use them whenever the fudge you want. You don't owe anyone your creative process. 🌈

Jock x Nerd Prompts

  • The jock definitely has the hots for someone being smart and confident in their knowledge. And now they have to do an assignment with the nerd in their specific field of expertise.
  • The jock and the nerd both mix up their schedules and end up in an arts class. Neither of them is good at being creative, so they are really dislike the class at first, but over time they realize how fun it is to improve their skills together.
  • The jock and the nerd have been family friends since birth, but went to different schools. Now one of them is transferring to the other's school and people are very surprised to find out about their connection.
  • Due to bullying, the school wants to get the kids to understand each other better and gives them the assignment to change places with someone they hardly know. So now they have to act out being the other person for a few days in school. Their teacher assigns the jock and the nerd of the class to change places.
  • The jock is head over heels for the nerd and all their team mates know it and they try really hard to set them up. But due to their overbearing nature it comes to a lot of misunderstandings.
  • The nerd needs to get a better grade in PE or their average is in danger. So they decide to ask the jock they are tutoring in science to help them out.

How do Mike's personalities interact with his own friends? (If one day they get to know them)

Avatar

it's complicated. Mike's alters are more than aware that kids can be cruel as shit if they sniff out the slightest odd difference/weakness (how do you think they came to be in the first place?) so they tend to keep themselves as subtle as they can while fronting around his friends/other kids in general (they go all-out more around his parents/other trusted adults because like hell they'd be able to hide themselves away from them if they're living together).

the subtlety does end up coming with its own set of problems though...

Strange Character Quirks Part One

characters who pause mid-sentence like someone else is feeding them the words on a delay.

someone who always knows the exact time without checking anything, and insists they “just feel it.”

a person who cleans their glasses even when they’re not wearing any.

characters who laugh at the wrong punchline, like they’re listening to a different conversation entirely.

someone who claims they don’t dream, but always seems tired, like they’re busy somewhere else.

a person who collects lost buttons and refuses to explain why. “You’ll understand eventually.”

someone who never seems surprised by anything, even things they shouldn’t possibly know about.

characters who compulsively straighten objects, except one item they always leave crooked. No one touches it.

a person who flinches when certain names are spoken, but pretends they don’t recognize them.

characters whose handwriting changes depending on their mood… or depending on who’s “in charge.”

someone who treats shadows like they’re alive, stepping around them as if they could bruise.

characters who hum melodies no one else has ever heard, but swear they’re popular songs.

characters who know when they’re being watched. Every. Single. Time.

a person who refuses to answer ringing phones. “If it’s important, they’ll stop.”

someone who apologizes to empty rooms before leaving them.

characters who insist they’ve met you before when you’re certain they haven’t.

a person who treats coincidences like personal messages and acts accordingly.

⊹ ₊ ⁺‧₊˚ ♡ ପ(๑•ᴗ•๑)ଓ ♡˚₊‧⁺ ₊ ⊹

PS: I wrote the other day about how important ratings and reviews are for authors… and no joke, afterward I actually got two new ratings on my books. And yes, I can already hear some people saying, “It’s just two.” But I don’t care. I’m stupidly grateful.

So to whoever did it, whether you’re one of my followers or just someone who stumbled across my book, I’m sending you mental hugs and an ungodly amount of pizza. Like… way too much pizza. Enough to feed a small village.

Thank you. Really. Every single rating matters. ♡˚₊‧⁺ ₊ ⊹

Ways to Show a Character is Falling in Love and Doesn’t Want To ...

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They notice the sound of their name in that person’s mouth and hate that it sounds better. Like their name was meant to be said that way.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They start to dress better when they might see them, subconsciously at first. “Oh, this old thing?” Sure. The old thing you ironed twice.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ Their laugh becomes a trigger. Not in the trauma sense, in the “I suddenly forgot how to breathe and now I want to die” sense.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ Every conversation feels like walking a tightrope between wanting to tease and wanting to touch.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They say they don’t care, but they’re paying way too much attention. Who they’re talking to. How they’re smiling. Who made them smile.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They avoid them, dramatically, stupidly and it physically hurts. Like withdrawal. They’ll literally hide behind shelves, peek around corners, act like a spy in their own life.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They start saying their name too often. “Oh, yeah, Alex said that too.” “Alex likes that band.” “Alex once...” Shut up, my dude. Please.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They mock them to their friends, but there’s a softness in the way they do it. A little too much affection in the “ugh, they’re so annoying.”

⋆.𐙚 ̊ Their stomach does that thing, you know the one, when they catch their scent on something, and it’s not even strong, just a hint, and suddenly they’re useless for the next ten minutes.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They overthink texts. “Okay, no emojis looks cold. Too many looks desperate. Maybe one. No, zero. Period. Wait, does the period look aggressive?”

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They dream about them, not even romantically, just constantly. Their brain won’t let them rest.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ Their jealousy doesn’t make sense. “Why are you talking to them?” “Because they’re a person.” “Oh, right, cool, yeah, totally fine, no reason, haha.” (proceeds to spiral internally).

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They act colder, on purpose. But it’s performative. The kind of detachment that’s practically begging to be noticed.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They start arguments for no reason. Because fighting feels easier than confessing.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They imagine kissing them during fights. Yes, during. It’s sick. They hate it.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They think about what they’d say if they ever got drunk enough to tell the truth. Then immediately pray that moment never comes.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ Their pulse spikes when their phone buzzes. It’s embarrassing how fast they grab it. And when it’s not them? Oh, the rage.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They watch their every expression. Like a scientist studying a dangerous animal. “What does that smile mean? Are they flirting or just friendly?” They never know. It’s torture.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They make jokes about being heartless. “Me? Love? Gross.” Meanwhile, they’re literally halfway in love already.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They defend them when no one asked. “They’re not that bad.” Bro. No one said they were. Chill.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They keep trying to rationalize it, listing all the reasons it can’t work, all the flaws they can find, like that’ll stop the feeling. It won’t.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They flinch when someone else flirts with them, then pretend they didn’t notice.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They convince themselves the other person doesn’t feel the same, because that’s safer than hoping.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ Their denial becomes its own obsession. “It’s not like that.” “It’s nothing.” “I don’t even like them.” Said for the fiftieth time this week.

⋆.𐙚 ̊ They get defensive when someone points it out. “Me? Them? You’re insane.” They’re not.

Quick tips for writing Sleep Deprivation

Memory becomes absolute garbage. Like “why am I in the kitchen?” garbage. “What was I saying?” garbage. Their brain is running on buffering screens and regret.

Fine motor skills? Ha. They’re dropping everything. Pens. Phones. Entire moral compass. They’re basically a malfunctioning claw machine.

Hallucinations creep in. That jacket on the chair? Suddenly a person. That noise? Definitely doom. Everything becomes mildly haunted.

Time gets weird. Five minutes feel like a year. A full hour disappears and they swear they blinked wrong.

Irritation skyrockets. They get mad at chairs. At air. At gravity. At the audacity of other humans continuing to exist.

Their voice sounds weird. Slow, scratchy, like they swallowed sand.

They walk like a drunk baby giraffe. Walls suddenly jump closer. Floors rise unexpectedly. Coordination said: “I’m out.”

Zoning out becomes a hobby. They stare at random objects like they’re trying to understand quantum mechanics.

Vision blurs in and out. Like someone smeared Vaseline over their eyeballs out of spite.

Their body just hurts. Not a dramatic pain, just the “why does my skeleton feel like it’s buzzing?” pain.

Food cravings go feral. They’d fight someone for a stale cookie.

Terrible choices. They will absolutely say “I’m fine” while making decisions that end in disaster.

Random emotional implosions. Crying because their sock feels wrong? Yes.

Cold hands. Cold feet. Cold heart. (Okay maybe not the last one, but it feels like it.)
