I have reposted this before but I am always impressed by how well-thought out every spot is. There is no good place to sit. “Oh, Eomer’s cool, I’ll sit with him” but then you will have to listen to Gollum and Bilbo the entire flight. “I’ll sit with Sam!” Pippin and Merry will be turning around the entire flight to talk to him. Sure, you can sit with Elrond, but you’re going to deal with him staring down Aragorn and Arwen. You may love Legolas and Gimli, but will you love sitting BETWEEN them? Just when you see a spot that seems okay, somewhere behind or across the aisle is a terrible option. This is so good. No good seats on the LOTR plane

Weird Al Yankovic doesn't do albums anymore because the musical monoculture has evaporated. Even the most popular Top 40 hits exist within narrow niches nowadays, with very little overlap between fans of different genres. He says it's next to impossible to stay relevant with his parodies because by the time he's written and produced one everyone has moved on to something else. There aren't really any big summer songs that get played nationally, everyone just listens to their own curated playlists, so writing five or six parodies for an album would be an exercise in futility. He only does sporadic singles now, and that's a damn shame.
For this reason, I propose he return to his roots in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, and start parodying classic songs he never got around to back in the day. He could release a throwback album called "What Did I Miss?" to capitalize on nostalgia. Instead of chasing a moving goalpost, he can go after existing tentpoles, win-win, instant brand recognition, eternal relevancy.
i was in the grocery store and saw an onion on the ground and picked it up, absently saying “poor little guy.” behind me a teenage girl started laughing and then stopped and went “aww. i’m sorry for laughing. that’s nice actually.” and the cycle of cruelty is broken for another generation as a young person realizes that it is not embarrassing to have empathy for another thing that was once living, because certainly to be a lone white onion rolling on the ground in a supermarket would be terrifying to anyone

Absolutely love Hamlet Act 4 Scene 5 where Horatio enters the room along with the Queen and the Gentleman who explains about Ophelias madness, stands there for a while without saying anything, then leaves right after Ophelia. Horatio, why are you even there? What’s going through your mind? Why does everyone who isn’t named Hamlet literally ignore you in every scene? Why didn’t you mention Ophelia’s madness to Hamlet when you guys met up in Act 5? I have so many questions.
What I find so fascinating about Horatio is how he seems to act merely as Hamlet’s shadow for most of the play. There’s one line in Act 5 where Claudius addresses Horatio directly*, but other than that, all the major characters except Hamlet act as though he doesn’t exist. He’s present when Rosencrantz and Guildenstern speak to Hamlet after the play-within-a-play, but his presence isn’t acknowledged by either of them. He is present in the above mentioned scene with Ophelia, but nobody acknowledges the fact that he’s there. In the gravedigger scene, there is no actual dialogue between him and the Gravedigger. It’s the same with the Osric scene, where Osric only ever seems to acknowledge and reply to Hamlet’s remarks, and during the duel where nobody except Hamlet talks to him.
Then there’s the dialogue between Horatio and Fortinbras at the end. Now that Hamlet is dead, it’s Horatios turn to step out of the shadows and finally take the centre stage.

I’m not saying it’s possible to do a staging of Hamlet where Horatio is Hamlet’s imaginary friend, but I’m also not saying it isn’t possible.
… there is an idea of a Horatio, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable: I simply am not there.
There's also the equally devastating possibility of Horatio being a ghost that only Hamlet can see (and the guards and Fortimbras?), and Claudius' line could be read as a prayer to Hamlet's departed friend, unaware that he's right there.
