Apparently ICE now has agents posing as utility workers to get into people’s homes. The electric and gas companies have posted information on how to tell if it’s one of their workers, and numbers to call to confirm whether they’ve sent someone to do utility work on your house.
Stay safe, friends.

I have to share this on the ground reporting of what’s happening in Minnesota from former Buzzfeed journalist Ryan Broderick:
On Saturday, local volunteers pulled over next to my car and asked Panic World producer Grant Irving and I if we were with ICE. We told them we were journalists and they explained they had to ask because our rental car had Florida plates. “A lot of the rental cars around here have been used by ICE,” one of the volunteers told us, before using a walkie talkie to tell other volunteers to stand down and stop monitoring our car.

Hello everyone! Quick note before the actual article. So sorry for the delay on this one… things occurred. I am going to try and do one letter a month going forward, depending on the length/availability of interviews. This one is a longer one so maybe it will make up for the delay! Thanks for sticking with me!
Unlike most of the other letters I encountered while researching this project, this letter was too long to fit into just one photo. Instead, I have a photocopy of the four-page letter that I made in the NMAH Archives room. This letter is also unlike the others in another way: though it has the general sentiment that is shared by many of the children who wrote in to CBS 50 years ago, none quite phrase it like George does.
The opening line illustrates this perfectly:
“Dear Larry, this is not a fan letter…”
Naturally, this got my attention.
Article continues under the cut

Going out and talking to people who still haven’t watched heated rivalry really is like. Well I was raptured and you got left behind idk what to say to you. I reached enlightenment last week and you’re still living like this willingly? I’m sorry I have to go
It’s only been two weeks and this has already lost all meaning. Jimmy Fallon was down on all fours. They’re doing 20 photo shoots per day. Helen Hunt is here. Hi Helen Hunt it’s good to be raptured with you

can not overstate that the reason hand-tailored items were so common 100 years ago is because every family had a dedicated home tailor called a “wife” who did 100% of the domestic labor do NOT romanticize a pre-readymade clothing life unless you’re willing to go to bat for every individual having a secondary part time job as a tailor
it’s correct to observe that clothing quality has gone on a downward trend and it’s correct to say that clothing was higher quality before the advent of ready-made clothing, you’re right to criticize ready-made fast fashion clothing but ready-made or modernity themselves are not the issue.
the problem with the wastefulness of the modern fashion industry will always be capitalist imperialism, the demand for people in the imperial core to have luxury trendy goods for abysmal prices at the cost of dehumanizing labor conditions, and the fatphobia that perpetuates a lack of size inclusivity. having perfectly tailored and constantly adjusted clothing is a luxury that was maintained through a slave labor force picking all our cotton and relegating 50% of the population to feminized domestic labor. you do not have the god-given right to be fashionable at all cost.
