I really appreciate your approach to the topic of TES 6 (and Bethesda's game development stuff in general). I feel like everywhere it's just hyperbolic negativity about it, so it's refreshing to have someone earnestly talking about it while still being realistic about their expectations

Thank you!

Ive spent hundreds of hours researching and reading on Bethesda devs and artists and their thoughts and opinions on game design. Ive also spent hundreds of hours digging thru examples of their work and have developed a pretty good idea of how they make games and the unbelievable effort they put into them.

One thing that is abundantly clear is they all LOVE what they do and they are 120% aware that despite trying their best, sometimes their ideas just fall flat and fail.

Those failures sting, often very badly, but multiple devs have said Todd loves to let people experiment. Do they have a cool idea, and a way to make it work? Then Todd is all for trying to implement it.

Sometimes these attempts fail too! But its all about passion and professionalism. Eg. Skyrim werewolves almost didnt make it into the game if it weren't for a single devs passion for making that gameplay system work and convincing Todd it was worth keeping for the final gam.

Trial and error, trial and error, and more trial and error. It takes time and a massive team effort to make these games we love (or hate). Bethesda devs are literally spending years of their lives making these games. If you consider yourself a fan (or an informed critic) please *do* give criticism as long as its constructive and fair, but dont forget to compliment and praise as well when it's clearly deserved.

Fair criticism and genuine appreciation are some of the most invaluable things fans can give back to game devs.

Folks tend to jump on the "blind hatred" or "blind praise" bandwagons, and neither could be *less* useful to game devs.

People can say whatever they wish of course, but if you want to make a meaningful impact with your words or feedback, give a balanced and clear feedback so devs can appreciate whatever you have to say.

Claude House (aka Case Study House #29)

Very loosely inspired by the famous Stahl House (Case Study House #22) in the Hollywood Hills, Claude House is a modernist home built into a low hill that offers much more than what meets the eye.

Actual Cafes Mod

Hi guys, I've been working hard on this one....

For those of us who play Open For Business in The Sims 2, cafes left a lot to be desired. Sims could come in and "shop" for food which would go into their inventory, but then they'd have to take it home... instead of sitting down and eating it.

The only other option was to run a full "restaurant" with a menu, host, server and more... And we all know that restaurants in The Sims 2 are hard, lol.

But what if there was another way?

The Sims 2 (released in 2004) has a fear that's just "send an email" that only elder sims roll, and it was 100% put there because back in 2004 email was actually common and positively regarded among teenagers (=millennials), whereas their parents (=boomers) tended to hate email because they didn't understand how to use it.

It's so funny to me to see Gen Z kids posting about this fear in the year of our lord 2025 and saying "same, tbh". Who knew, in 2004, that 20 years later, everyone would loathe email? If anything, old people seem to like email more than most people now.

diseases in sims 4: Uh oh! Your sim has “Itchy Plumbob” and it’s making them feel a little bit silly!

diseases in sims 2: your sim has pneumonia and is going to fucking die

🎉 THE DAY HAS COME!!! IT'S OUT!!!! 🎉

This has been such an amazing and fun journey! We're beyond happy so many great artists could join us and turn this little idea into a beefy magazine! We want to extend our thanks to each and every contributor and we hope you had as much fun creating for the zine as we had seeing, reviewing and assembling everything. 💚

How can I read this zine?

We coded this cute online flip book (big thanks to npc_crow!) to really get the magazine experience, but you can also download the free pdf here!

But I want to actually hold it in my hands! Can I get a physical copy?

Same, dear reader, same!

We are still trying to find an optimal solution uniting quality and affordability, and that requires looooots of testing.

Our plan is to sell physical copies at non-profit aka production & shipment price, and per request to avoid out-of-pocket expenses by printing stock without knowing if it would sell entirely. We hope to be able to fulfill printing requests soon and will be sure to update you about that.

Until then, we hope you enjoy the digital version!

Beneath the crumbled tombs of a forsaken mausoleum, whispers coil in the dark—echoes of witches who turned grief into power

#TW Spiders, weebs, skeletons, coffins

I'm a sucker for anything creepy and supernatural. Unfortunately, my current neighborhood has only one family like this, so when the occasion came, I built them this secret hideout in the middle of the woods. It's called Morrigan Musoleum because Dragon Age Origins lives rent free in my head :D

Story-wise, on the surface it's an old, inaccessible by normal means, mausoleum—the grave of a powerful and forgotten witch.

Inside, though, you can find the living and study quarters of two evil witches and their two students.

And beneath it all lies a cellar filled with forbidden knowledge and secrets.

I also added little details around the building. Other than that, it's just a lake surrounded by trees

And view from the top if someone is interested

Hope you guys like it. I'm not a builder and I kinda gave my all for this lot :D

How to record videos with Sims 2 in-game camera (HD, no UI, no lag, no file format issues)

I originally planned to include this information in the behind-the-scenes video about Bring Me To Life that I'm currently working on, but it's overly technical and not that interesting. It still might be useful to some people (mostly machinima creators), so I decided to make a separate post about it.

There are two ways to record videos in The Sims 2:

Using screen recording software

This is the most common and probably the easiest way. You just need a program like OBS that will capture whatever happens on your screen exactly as it happened. If this method works for you, it's perfectly fine. No need to follow this guide then.

Using the in-game video capture tool

This way involves capturing videos directly in the game by clicking the video camera icon or pressing V on your keyboard. This method is perfect for machinima creators. It automatically hides the UI, but more importantly, the video will always be perfectly smooth, regardless of the actual performance of your game, i.e. even if it runs like a literal slide show, any videos you capture this way will look perfectly fine.

Okay, so if this method is so great, why do we need a tutorial for it? Well, as is usually the case with this game, the feature works fine, it's just a little bit outdated.

To fix it, we need to do 3 simple* things.

*If you're a Sims 2 player, you're probably used to this kind of stuff anyway
