So the E/riels are always out there saying Azriel and Gwyn can’t be mates because *checks notes*:
1. He rescued her from the most traumatic attack of her life, then
2. Left her with someone else, then
3. Doesn’t check up on her for two years, then
4. Has no reaction when he sees her again, and
5. Sees her every single day but is still preocupied by the memory of another female.
Surely Sarah can’t write something like this…can she?
But what if I told you that Sarah already wrote something like this? Because this is exactly what happened with Bryce and Hunt.
1. He rescued her from the Krystallos attack and on the night of her most traumatic event, you know, when her very best friend and the entire Pack of Devils were brutally murdered.
2. He left her with the trained medical staff and went on his way.
3. Doesn’t check on her again for two years (weird that she used the same time gap, isn’t it? SJM sure loves her patterns). It’s almost like the author feels like that would be a good amount of time to heal and separate the players from the traumatic event. Almost.
4. Has no reaction when he sees her again. In fact, he almost seems annoyed at having to work with her (spoiled party princess and all).
5. He sees her every day, working alongside her to solve the case. Despite this, he’s still preoccupied with the memory of Shahar. Even Bryce says at one point that she knows he wouldn’t make a move because he’s still in love with Shahar.
And in the end, guess what? Hunt was Bryce’s mate all along. When the bond hasn’t snapped yet, anything can happen. So, you can all continue to gaslight yourselves into believing whatever you want. You can keep believing whatever you think Sarah won’t write. But I suggest you look at her work and her writing…the answers are usually right there.
