Bit of an odd question, but how do you design outfits? In ISaT, Serre, and (as far as I can tell) Truth Scrapper, your characters all dress in such interesting/cool ways. Are you well versed in Actual Fashion, or is it just a matter of practice with character design?

i have many folders full of many references. above you can see my Clothing References (in french) with such folders like "armor", "pretty dresses", "clothes for magicians", "post apocalyptic clothes", and so on. so if i have to design a character, let's say, SF-A2 Miki in HUMAN, since we decided she was an astronaut, i just go to my "scifi clothes" folder, and look around for my references.
i also have folders for comics, environments, animals, body types, etc, so this helps whether i need something realistic, or need inspiration for something more stylized!!! those folders are more than 10 years in the making so i have Many References for Many Things
its also about thinking what clothes each character would like... would they want their body shown, do they want people to see their Shape, or would they prefer to be unseen? do they like fashion or do they follow what other people wear? do they prefer more practical things? do they dress themselves and do they like it? WHAT DO THEY THINK OF WHAT THEY'RE WEARING!!!!!

i think onceler and vriska present a dichotomy.
A man can do whatever he wants, be an outright terrible hostile person, be comically evil, but as long as he shakes it off by being kinda quirky and has some vague cover that some of the things he did aren't 100% his choice, people love him. people sexualize him. people think he's funny and quirky and "complicated" even if he really really isn't.
A woman can be sincerely complicated. She can do all those same terrible things, but even if her narrative justifies why her moral code is the way that it is, even if she demonstrates some capacity for regret and even change, even if the narrative is purposefully trying to accomplish greater commentary with her character, she's still subject to infinite endless discourse about why she's terrible even if she's placed in a story with blatantly worse men.
the crazy thing is there is a onceler in homestuck. several, even. eridan is the easiest comparison to make, being from somewhat similar backgrounds. eridan just did all of that killing for fun though
honestly, maybe skylar white is a better comparison than vriska. woman who has a directly proportional response to the insane levels of gaslighting and actual murder her husband does, maligned cause she didn't let her husband be Awesome

Shaggy Rogers is a young adult human man that eats dog treats and his friends don't even care. They act like it's normal. Not only do they know he loves eating dog treats, but they know he'll do scary dangerous shit just to eat dog treats, and they use that to their advantage. "Oh you don't wanna get asbestos poisoning in the scary abandoned building? What if we fed you a dog treat?" And he says yes and he does it and eats it and they act like that's a normal thing for a human guy to do. But then again, he also eats 10 feet tall sandwiches in one bite, so maybe he's not even human. Still fucked up that they manipulate him like that though. But whatever. Forget I said anything.
