Do it for the (cell) culture (dish)

We're in the home stretch of the holiday season, folks. The egg nog will soon be taken from us, the wrapping paper is ready to be thrown in the back of the closet, and it is hopefully almost time for you to rest, relax and focus on yourself.

Just like those tiny organisms flourish in their nutrient-rich environment, we too bask in the joys of vegging out, allowing our stress levels to diminish and our spirits to thrive. Just as the cultures in the dish spread and develop, so do our holiday vibes, expanding with each delightful moment of indulgence, whether it's binge-watching favorite shows, savoring festive treats, or simply lounging in comfort. As the Petri dish cultures multiply and evolve, so do our holiday experiences, multiplying into delightful memories that enrich our lives like a blossoming experiment under the microscope of joyous moments.

Enough heavy-handed metaphors and similes. Let's get on with it.

If any of you ever feel like what you're doing for Palestine isn't helping anything, I'll tell you right now it's helping me. I know it is fortifying all of us who have been in this fight for years to see so many people willing to speak up. It has never been like this before.

The tide has already turned. The fact that #free palestine will have new posts everyday, that helps me. It helps my mental health knowing that Palestinians are less alone now than ever.

Yesterday I read some verses from the Quran talking about how "the blame" is not with those who wish to help but cannot, but with those who CAN help and do not.

Truly I do not care if all you do for Palestine is post in that #free palestine everyday, that is still more than many people with the means to do even more would do.

We see you. We see you standing in solidarity with us and with Palestinians. We love you. Thank you.

I have to keep reminding myself that the point of collective action is that it's collective.

It's terrifying and demoralizing that nothing thus far has stopped or more than briefly paused the genocide.

But that's not a reason to stop trying.

If you can protest in person, do that.

If you can donate, do that.

If you can write your officials, do that.

If you can click once a day, do it here: https://arab.org/click-to-help/palestine/

And if all you can do is share, do that.

He's actually more or less making the Talmudic argument here. Even if "being transgender" were explicitly impermissible in the Torah (it isn't, though I'm sure some would try to argue it is), the statistics on suicide rates are undeniable, and any commandment can be, and must be, suspended to save human life. Pikuach Nefesh. You don't fast on Yom Kippur if it will kill you. You don't rest from your work on the sabbath if your work is necessary for someone else to live. This is a very straightforward application of the principle. And you can take that to any Jewish transphobe you ever meet.

when we try to befriend cats we mimic their meows and get down on the ground to their level and try to gently coax them to interact with us right

that horrifying entity mimicking human noises at us maybe just thinks we’re cool and wants to pet us?

a few people pointed out that they probably wouldn’t understand what they were saying and just mimicking whatever sounds they happen to hear so I wanted to add this
