My “Virus” theory lmfao. I guess this would be the Mind Flayer / Shadow particles. Dr Sam Owens does describe them as a “sort of virus with a hivemind” in s2. 🦠

And Will didn’t die after all, at least not in a conventional sense. But, Eleven (seemingly) did. And I’m a proponent of the theory that Eleven represents the love between Mike and Will. So, in a way, you could still say there was a fake “death” that is going to be resolved in some kind of secret following episode(s).

Convoluted virus/death/love theory aside, i keep thinking the “Hawkins’ Horrors” Stranger Things book probably holds the key to this #conformitygate mystery somehow.

There were a lot, and I mean A LOT, of meta references there. The moment I finished that book I knew there was going to be something EXTREMELY weird about season 5.
