El, she/her pronouns, rabid fangirl of all things Star Wars, Borderlands, Halo. Just here to have fun, don't bring hate or wank about ships because it will not be tolerated. This blog is 18+ Only. Old and salty by tumblr standards. I occasionally write things, come find me on AO3.
Look I love unconditional devotion love stories as much as the next person, but there’s really something so deliciously raw about conditional devotion.
I have served you and I have loved you for decades, but I will not give up my principles for you. You cut out part of my heart and took it with you down that path that you insist on walking, but you walk it alone. Even when the bleeding, gaping hole you left in my chest kills me, I will not follow you.
me everytime one of my seemingly non-specific homoerotic text posts breaks containment
AO3 should have an Annotation Mode where you can click to view all of the author’s commentary and thoughts about certain parts of the work. A little comment that says “I spent five hours researching vintage radio mechanics for this and didn’t even end up using it” or “this is an ancient Hebrew literary technique!” would make my day
My favorite coworker/work bestie who I corrupted slowly and steadily into playing Love and Deepspace with me came to me and was talking about how instagram has been serving her Heated Rivalry and she wants to watch the gay hockey players show.
When I tell you I never shared a login credential so swiftly in my life. I mean I TOTALLY didn’t share my HBO Max login credential.
Anyway this is just step three on my journey convincing her to watch Asian BL dramas with me and then next, I can share my steadily increasing danmei collection with her. I think it’s going swimmingly
Whelp I finished AOT Season 1 and am onto episode 2 of Season 2. I lowkey love this fandom has taken super flat and barely has any screentime characters and makes them way more fleshed out and important than they really are in canon.
Take Mike for example, I thought he would have WAY MORE screentime and impact on storyline. Instead he was in a handful of scenes, played a minor role in No Regrets and then died in a truly horrific manner. My dude is the epitome of a Mauve Shirt.
I think that’s the problem with coming into a fandom assbackwards like I am doing where I read all the fanfic and then decide to check out the actual source material.
Speaking of fanfic, I’m definitely going to try and work on something but it’s a secret for now cause 1) I don’t know if I’ll actually write it. 2) It’s NOT the pairing I was planning on writing for. 3) I have no idea how toxic the fandom is and don’t feel like being put on blast just yet for writing something le problematic.
It’s a shonen anime fandom so I always go in with expectations of it being subterranean when it comes to toxicity scale.
But hey I actually have a fucking outline going so that’s definitely a good sign right?
ao3 comments will be like “i like this line of your fic” and my reply will be like “fantastic thank you here’s my entire thought process about how i ended up with that particular line and also an outline for another fic i have and fifteen resources i used to research 1980s politics” and nobody asked for that chill
i asked for that
No we 100% asked for that.
Definitely asked for that, and also here’s the other three dozen lines from your fic that I liked and the outline for the fic they inspired me to write plus some extra character meta that at this point is only tangentially related to your fic but was definitely inspired by those 1980s politics resources and -
Yep.
This is literally how I made most of my fandom besties.
Listen…
Fic Commenters: If you ever want to make a comment going on depth about a part of a fic that stood out to you, but think “does the author really want to read all this?” The answer is YES! YES WE DO WANT TO READ ALL THAT!!!!
Fic authors: If you ever see a comment that makes you want to explain your thought process behind your writing, and you think “does the commenter really want to read all this?” The answer is YES! YES WE DO WANT TO READ ALL THAT!!!
