by talos this can’t be happening is a mandela effect because the actual phrase is by the gods this can’t be happening and i’ve never heard anyone say the former in game
by talos this can’t be happening
the phrase by talos this can’t be happening is actually from a rupaul roleplay blog who left their husband in a cage with no food and water for a few weeks and the husband died sorry to be the spoil sport but it does have an origin and it is a very tumblr origin in nature
Here’s the post they’re referring to for context
Oh. Skyrim husband.
oh god
Oh Talos
I love seeing it when people find this out. I fucking love it.
“Shane has no grief or trauma” right that seems like an accurate assessment of an autistic, Asian, anxiety-riddled, closeted hockey player who’s been seeing his rival in secret for 7+ years while he battles coming to terms with his own sexuality and not letting down his family, team, or fans or letting it ruin his image. Right. Surely none of these things would affect his extremely well adjusted and normal mental health & wellbeing whatsoever. Hand over his character to me please
rose landry gets cast as the lead in a film that’s basically a lesbian version of heated rivalry, and she immediately tries to find a way to bring shane in as a hockey advisor but there’s just no way he can make the time commitment. he can (and does!) help her with her skating in the off-season, but most of his year is tied up in hockey. so she asks if he knows anyone who might be interested in the gig, or if he has any recommendations, and it turns out that he does. it turns out that his boyfriend’s childhood best friend knows everything there is to know about hockey, actually, and she is more than happy to point that out to you in great detail, and do you want me to pass along her number???
So Heated Rivalry Got You Curious About More Gay Romance TV…
Well, if you’re not afraid of Asia, there’s a whole treasure trove waiting for you, so here’s a BL rec list no one asked for based on…
What did you like about Heated Rivalry?
Poetic Cinema 🤌
These series all have the cinematic production styles, psychologically conflicted characters, social realist commentaries, and show-don’t-tell writing that’s come to be celebrated in the West. They all contain elements from the categories below, as well. Gonna be the BL gateway drugs for cinephiles and prestige tv elitists (affectionate).
Listen. Sex sells. No shame. These series all have interesting stories and strong performances built around hot guys and intense sex scenes that I think personally appeal to the typical Western gay gaze a bit more than other BL fair.
You liked The Cottage the best. Totally fair. Some of us want 90s-Level Hollywood Romcoms for Gays. Was HR’s gorgeous slow-burn to a happily-ever-after romance the main draw and satisfaction for you? Maybe you even wished it had a few more funny moments and felt a tiny bit lighter. Now you’re in the mood for something like Schitt’s Creek. Some of these you’ll need to give an episode or three before you pass judgment. They start off cheesy, but all of them are totally swoon-worthy.
Sweet gay agony and tears! The pains and struggles of coming out to yourself and others in a homophobic world! The closet hurts and causes people to act in cruel self-destructive ways before we find ourselves, and even then, the old habits haunt us. Still, there’s hope and the characters in these series all find their way to the other side. These series aren’t quite as angsty as the poetic cinema ones, but they all evoke the experience of dealing with queer closeted feelings through allegorical writing and heart-wrenching performances (even if their production is less fine-tuned to western ideas of prestige television).
