Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Spread the self-love ❤

  • Hi “anon”! 😄😉 Thank you for the first message! This is a fun question.

    1. Overwhelm Me…” might be my favorite. I’m so beyond pleased with how it turned out. It was interesting to get into a “missing scene” idea and figure out how Shane and Ilya would actually interact at a moment in their timeline when we have very limited info from the books. The pacing and momentum, the dialogue, the mix and flow of angst/hot/sweet came through pretty well I think. There’s a bunch of lines in there I’m rather proud of too.
    2. I Always Knew It Was You” - My first one! The one that got me into writing anything at all! I had so much fun writing this and I’m glad I overcame my nerves and put it out there. I’ve loved getting further into the GCU fan community online and the AO3/writing community by doing so, all starting with this one.
    3. So Happy Together” - Another I’m super pleased with, especially diving into the period of time in The Long Game that the fic explores and overall arc Shane takes throughout it. It was fun to try writing Shane and Ilya interacting with other characters, and especially with one original character. Lots of dialogue in there that I’m really happy with, haha. The Troy/Harris section was entertaining to write too. (And a sneaky Time to Shine reference! hehe)
    4. Weekend Vacation Away” - This was a really ambitious one. It’s 24k, it’s chaptered, it’s a baby fic (but not about the baby at all, her name might as well be “Maguffin” lmao), and this was my first venture into writing sex scenes (one of which is kinda wild, ngl haha). It was a challenging experience writing this one and making it feel “whole” and rounded with growth and arcs, but it was a really fun learning experience too.
    5. Maybe “Summer Fundraising” - It started as a bunch of random little “what if” ideas and tiny blurbs of dialogue that somehow managed to tie together into something cohesive, and it just kinda makes me smile to see. (this one definitely wouldn’t have happened without all the fun chats with “anon” who asked this Q! 😄)

And I’ve only written 7 total, so my other two get honorable mentions lol.

Dreams of Center Ice” - A cute and fun PWP with a flashback that was really fun to imagine and put together.

Just Too Good To Be True” - An extremely fluffy follow up to “I Always Knew…” with a lot of warm and fuzzy family moments, and in a way, my own love letter to the time I spent in Moscow.

    Thanks for the Q! 💖

    My Fics

Shane and Ilya - Heated Rivalry/The Long Game by Rachel Reid

    Most Recent

    Summer Fundraising (M)

Ilya and Shane help out with a fundraiser for The Irina Foundation.
Mostly a few different fluff ideas that are very loosely tied together. Featuring: a conversation about menstruation and birth control, bilingual struggles, sexy car repairs, kissing at work, and enjoying an outdoor summer concert in the park.

Overwhelm Me Until I Can’t Think of Anything Else (E)

“They would play tomorrow night, their second game of the season. Montreal had been in Boston for their season opener in October. Boston had won in overtime, and Hollander had been in a terrible mood when he’d shown up at the room Ilya had booked in the hotel down the street from where Montreal was staying.
Ilya liked it when Hollander was angry. He liked it when Hollander took out his frustrations on Ilya’s body. He liked him cursing him as he fucked Ilya’s mouth.” Heated Rivalry, Chapter 9
My take on the missing scene after the 2013-14 season opener game in Boston.
Title taken from the “Vegas Remix” story (Ilya’s POV) posted to Rachel Reid’s blog.

And a few more! mostly fluff!
