One thing I’ve noticed recently is that people treat RSVPing for a party or event as a suggestion and not a commitment.
I had a little party today and literally half the people who had RSVPed yes just no-showed without saying anything.
It ended up being a delightful event with some of my favorite people and I had a really good time, but I can’t help but feel a bit hurt by my friends who said they would come and just…didn’t.
Even beyond my feelings, I had put a LOT of work into preparation, so there was way too much food.
If you say you’re going to an event, especially a smaller one, at least tell the host if plans change. Like, no one is forcing you at gunpoint to go to a party, but it’s super rude to just ghost your friends and usually significant work has gone into putting together the event.
Also like, part of the reason you RSVP is so the host knows how many people to accommodate for something (i.e how much food to get). By no-showing in advance you are making them waste money, cause they’ll be spending it on thing that will go to waste b/c the person they were allotted to didn’t show up.
Which is rude as hell.
And the reverse is also why you SHOULD say if you’re coming and not show up randomly without warning, if they haven’t planned for your attendance there won’t be enough stuff for you(like food.
The wanting to know who’s coming isn’t just, because the want to know. They want to know so they can accommodate the right amount of people.

One thing I’ve become a real extremist about is little girl’s clothing and hair styles because if your kid can’t get her hair wet, hang upside down, climb over a fence or run full out in the outfit/hair she is currently wearing then why not? And the answer better be both extremely fucking good and describe something temporary.
Hope you don’t mind a story that also made me extremist about this issue.
Took my friends daughter (2.5yrs) to the park. Dressed her in practical clothing that’s ok to get stained, brought an extra change of clothing. She sat in the mud at the water bank and played with rocks and mud. A little girl came over, couldn’t be more than 3yrs. She was looking longingly at my friend’s daughter. She has her hair in a perfect style and she’s wearing a pretty dress with white socks and dressy shoes. The parents say “Sweetie don’t go into the mud, you’ll get your dress dirty” and pull her away, while giving me a judgmental look as they see the kid in my charge covered in mud and throwing rocks into the water. It felt really weird, like we saw eachother as aliens with completely different ideas on how to raise children. When my friends daughter was done playing, changed her into clean clothing and went back home. She had a lot of fun at the park and a day full of nature and play. The other little girl kept her dress clean.

When I started following them, they were both publicly presenting as women, and then a few years ago N. D. came out as transmasc nonbinary, and then earlier this year Lee also came out as transmasc.
