"why must I be your pride and joy? why can't I simply be your daughter even if I am pathetic and foolish" OKAY I see we are going for the jugular
best thing about these movies being serialized with one single character as a connecting thread is that with each new production Benoit Blanc becomes by necessity an even older gay man and that's beautiful

I feel like all the "they broke weird al" "weird al got serious we're so cooked" comments about the killing in the name cover are missing the point. that is not a broken man. comedy is politics. comedy has always been politics. weird al has been satirizing politics for a long time because he knows the court jester can say to the king what other people can't. by doing a serious cover of an explicitly anti-establishment song that his gen x and millennial audience knows by heart when he's built his career on parody, he's saying this can't be satirized anymore and he's saying it in a very deliberate way that his audience will understand. those aren't the actions of a broken man, they're the actions of a man who is trying to tell you something. are we going to listen?
people talk about how we need to bring back "don't feed the trolls" rhetoric for modern internet ragebait and I agree but also I think the most useful thing from the Old Internet that I miss is LURKING
be a lurker. just read things and think about them without feeling the need to weigh in or call out or disseminate everything you encounter. it's so nice and so freeing and it's a good way to learn things.
I have frequently regretted getting involved in shit that didn't involve me online but you know what I've never regretted doing? Lurking. literally lurk moar
advice that has literally saved and improved my life
we shpuld make a tumblr bar with drinks like sonic screwdriver and the baker street mule
just got out of my time capsule btw
Super! Who locked you in there?
Watching True Beauty rn and it's hilarious, so many tropes I'd heard about constantly showing up in kdramas. The two guys that are into her are right low having their own dumpling version of The Great British Bake Off in front of her family, both trying to impress the mom. The naturally conventionally attractive people are all constantly rejected and are engaging in more and more unhinged behaviour about it. The protagonist's homeroom teacher suddenly just randomly screams at people, not in a mean way but instead a sudden burst of "AHHHHHH" when he needs to act quick and doesn't know what to do. The more episodes in I am, the more flashback montages there are. It's comical how the two male love interests almost seem in love with each other and overcompensating via competing for this one girl. Her new best friend and her have the craziest chemistry right from the start of her going to this new school. The main love interest is rich and his dad's a famous actor and businessman but of course also corrupt. Everyone keeps saving each other in a dramatic fashion from getting run over by mopeds and ends up in intimate, tight hugs. It's all so wonderfully overdramatic.
Shine on Me may be a romance, but at it's core, it is renewable energy propaganda and i love it
