I appreciate the clip of Anthony Mackie expressing his shock at the Dr. Doom announcement is trending. At that time, too many Marvel "fans" laughed about nobody caring for Sam Wilson, and Anthony was bitter that RDJ is popular. Now it's seen for what it truly is: a black man letting out a little frustration. His moment was overshadowed by a man he had hung out with the day prior, but did not give a heads-up to. Fans of color knew the writing on the wall. Most importantly, Sam fans were called all types of shit for a long time; they were right. Some Sam fans on here were absolutely accurate in their assessment of the way the Marvel fandom was moving and Marvel's push to superwhiteness. I wish I remembered everything they said but I do know one: @jemgirl86 "whatever Doomsday turns out to be and they do right by Sam, I will never forget how this fandom treated black Sam fans". How are we getting an Avengers movie, not one trailer featured the Avengers?
The sooner people realize that Marvel and Disney are mad about how successful Black Panther was; the sooner people will realize that Sam Wilson and any other Black Superhero were always going to be second fiddle to the white characters in the MCU
Look at how The Marvels were treated.
Letβs not even get to the abomination of the latest Captain America movie since we all knew it was a placeholder while trying to get Chris Evans a bigger paycheck for him to come back.
The Blade movie that keeps being β delayedβ.
Iron Heart barely being promoted anywhere and the same is happening for Wonder Man
Marvel doesnβt want Black Superheroes to thrive because they donβt want Black Pantherβs success to strike a third time. It would mean that Marvel would have to be diverse and promote Black Superheroes and they donβt want that.
Especially since Black Panther won Academy Awards while their white centered superheroes will never be in the Academy Awards discussion.
I seriously hate how people think the core message of Captain America: Brave New World is "Our president has done bad things but we should forgive him because he's the president" when the actual message was "Everyone has the capacity to change and do better but we aren't free from the consequences of our actions" because Ross literally gets arrested at the end of the movie and steps down as president because he's too unstable for the job, something I know a lot of old men don't have the self awareness to do. And nobody sees the irony of a red American president destroying the White House while the flag waves in the background? Or the fact that literally in Daredevil: Born Again we have a convicted felon getting off scot free and being placed in a position of power? Jee, I wonder who that could be referencing.
Anthony Mackie has been Captain America since 2019. Heβs been in a TV show and one (1) movie.
Six years into his tenure as Captain America, Chris Evans had been in five (5!!) movies as a leading role and had two cameos.
The people want more Sam Wilson!! Give us more Sam Wilson!! Let him lead the Avengers and shine on his own!!
