Do you have a song you love that someone just happened to turn into a beautiful fic? Have you discovered new songs or artists because someone else’s words inspired you to open your music app? Is there a song you were not completely sold on, but have to admit the lyrics fit perfectly into the moment? Have you ever heard a song on the radio and thought ‘Where do I know this from?’ only to realize ‘Oh yeah, I read this fic.’ Or have you just listened to Songs from a Broken Chair and Gemini one too many times while visualizing Noah’s voice and words into D + P’s love story.

Our lovely friend had the crazy idea to use Noah's 31 original songs to explore Patrick's thoughts and feelings throughout the 39 episodes he appears in and the end result is just beautiful. A creative, sometimes funny, but often soft and sensitive look into our sweet boy's mind.
Artist: Goo Goo Dolls Song: Iris 💜
I'm a big Goo Goo Dolls fan and Dizzy Up the Girl was a special album for me throughout my teenage years, one of the few CDs I've held onto. Just a sweet little D & P fic and I love our friend's notes on the symbolism and lore of the Iris flower while I anxiously await their return to my garden this spring
Artist: Imagine Dragons Songs: Polaroid, Hopeless Opus, Working Man, Bad Liar, Walking the Wire, Next to Me
Imagine Dragons is one of those bands where I think some of their biggest hits are also some of their weakest songs, so I didn't really listen to them much before I stubbled across this collection of fics exploring David and Patrick's relationship through ID lyrics. I enjoy the whole series, but my favorites are the two pre-canon fics:
Lastly, in honor of my 40th birthday last month, I'll give a little love to my birthday twin and frequent muse of the fanfiction world, Ms. Taylor Swift. I'm not really a fan, but my daughter is so her songs are definitely in my algorithm. On multiple occasions, across multiple fandoms, a TS song has come on and I will inevitably think "Hey, I read this fic." Decided to go with a less obvious choice for my rec:

Rachel is an intriguing figure for me. I think, unfortunately, in his effort to avoid portraying her as the 'jealous, toxic ex' Dan left her as a blank slate for fans and fic writers to place whatever personality they choose onto her. There are a lot of versions of Rachel I really like, many that I don't, but we don't often get her POV and I really enjoyed this delicate introspective based on a song which is very Patrick and Rachel coded.
