swashbuckling-sweethearts:

You Drew Me a Lovely Frame went live yesterday! You can see the video and all frames on their website - it’s so beautiful!

I did four frames:

3064:

Ed and Stede with their lips millimeters apart. Ed is holding Stede's face. The overall color palette is pinks and purples and there seems to be a shining light coming from between them where their hearts are. There are colorful nebulae and stars in the sky, and sparkly stars in their hair.ALT

198:

Ed and Stede dressed like Princess Buttercup and the Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride. Ed is in her red dress and Stede is in the full black outfit with black sash and mask. They are standing in a field holding each other. There is long grass where beach sand is in the original screenshot from the show, and the fire swamp forest is in place of the hill in the background of the original shot. There are glowing eyes and a small fire visible in the darkest parts of the forest. To the right of the image is a pile of large boulders and a couple more evergreen trees. There are birds flying in the air.ALT

3060:

and Stede kissing on the beach, the illustration shows them from the shoulders up. The colors are fairly true to canon but Ed's jacket has bright orange highlights and Stede's shirt has bright sea green highlights. The overall image has a bit of an orange glow to itALT

3116:

Ed and Stede standing close to each other from the shoulders up. Ed's hand is on Stede's face and he's in the middle of saying "I love you". The colors are fairly true to canon but there are lots of little tattoo doodles and hearts in the green bushes. In the darker folds of Stede's shirt there are flower doodles and in Ed's leather there are doodles of stars and a kiwi.ALT

I had so much fun making these! Go look at all the other incredible art, there was so much creativity for this project!!

frame 3066:

go check out the rest!

newnewyorker93:

A linocut print of a frame from the Ed/Stede beach kiss scene in OFMD 2x08, during the second kiss in the sequence. Ed's hand with the spider tattoo visible is holding Stede's face, both their eyes are closed, and Ed's nose is squishing into Stede's cheek while they kiss. Stede has a very blissful, peaceful expression on his face and Ed's is more intensely emotional. There's a black border around the image and the background is blank except for some little gesture lines left over from the block carving process that I decided to keep in.ALT

I’m so excited to share my frame for You Drew Me A Lovely Frame!! This was an incredible project and such a wonderful, supportive group of artists to be a part of, and I learned how to do a new type of art (linocut)!

prev post was jokey but it does make me absolutely raging that women on screen (animated and not but specifically animated in this context) are by default hairless as if no hair ever grew there at all. theyre also thin by default and anyone questioning why a woman has been designed to be so thin immediately is partaking in discourse, as if the idea that a woman could be like mid size or fat in animation is in itself political. armpit hair on a woman in art is political.. its so dire. in animation i dont expect individual leg hairs to be animated because thats just difficult (unless its a few little lines for texture or in a purposeful stylised way) but it is a conscious choice to design a woman without underarm hair, something almost all adults have. its so glaring to me at this point as a choice that was made in the design process. a man can have a full beard and fuck off fuzzy chest hair but if this woman doesnt have entirely waxed armpits grown men will get too scared. we’ve got to get out of here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
