here’s the thing. I don’t think that men and women can’t be friends. I do think, however, that some men can’t be friends with women. bc they are misogynists and don’t see women as people. so if you as a man say men and women can’t be friends I think you’re telling on yourself
i’m of the opinion that the depp/heard trial didn’t change peoples’ perspective on female abuse survivors but gave them a chance to express the violent misogyny they already harbored. similar to men who speak violently about “onlyfans girls”, they’re overjoyed when they find an acceptable target. the depp/heard trial just revealed how widespread the issue is, and created an environment where it’s even more acceptable to degrade survivors. i’ve heard someone say in real life “how do we know [rape victim] isn’t another amber heard”.
all my friends now are friends that i’ve made through other friends but i have a friend who makes friends literally everywhere she’s made them at bars and climbing and at cafes and at work and playing pool and in the vintage clothes selling community and it’s like. what the hell. what. what the hell.
person who doesn’t like going to clubs and bars: i don’t have good options for meeting new people because i don’t like clubs and bars
person who met all of their friends by knowing other friends and not by going to public places and talking to random strangers: have you tried cafés and libraries?
a lot of you really need to internalize that acting avoidant isn’t cute at all and that it will cost you experiences and life outcomes if you don’t change course
in this fantasy world, theres no homophobia or sexism! but the governments are still patriarchal monarchies and everyone still adheres to the standard nuclear family, two things that have absolutely no relation to homophobia and sexism whatsoever
