he understood chane’s intent, and he was right. by going quietly, she was protecting those with her and following her own agenda. any intervention on claire’s part would have endangered her companions and stripped her of any agency.
in fact, nice has the exact same thought process in regard to jacuzzi:
it’s almost as if they’re balancing treating their partners with respect against caring about their safety. which is why both still show up to intervene later. because as much as claire and nice value their partners’ ideals, they care about helping and protecting them regardless.
not to mention that i personally find it more valuable that claire has the utmost faith in chane’s ability to protect herself. which he is not wrong about in the slightest.
