it is so important to me that not only does love and acceptance save the day in The Sorcerer, but that in doing so it goes against the repeated rhetoric that's been pushed onto El of drawing her strength and power from hate and hurt. Brenner, Henry, even Kali urge El to draw on her worst memoriesβ€”the things that upset her, that enrage herβ€”to be powerful. Will not only taps into his abilities for the first time, but he does so with intense strength that should by no means be possible. And he accomplishes this through finding power in loving himself, accepting himself, and giving that love back to save his friends.

I so sincerely hope that El learns over the next couple episodes that her power and strength does not have to come from a place of hurt. That she is capable of and worth great love and acceptance. Because that power from violence only serves to perpetuate the cycle of abuse. We just witnessed Will break out of that cycleβ€”I hope he can help El break out of hers next.

no cause i’m still mad. what the fuck do you mean the only way to break the cycle of violence is to kill yourself? where did our wires get crossed what the hell happened to this

Every day I think of the apocalyptic Hawkins we could’ve had. Like mmm yes give me the party exploring their abandoned past, the decrepit halls of their old middle school, the overtaken railroad tracks and car junkyard, the haunted creel house, the quarry and lover’s lake…the abandoned city as a metaphor for abandoned childhood instead of El…impeccable horror vibes from the run-down buildings and fend-for-yourself from Vecna and the military…Vecna memories being for the party and forcing them to reckon with their pasts individually and with their counterparts…do you guys pick up what I’m putting down like ugh the vibes of what I hoped it was were so peak

even without Byler happening it would have been so much more impactful if El and Mike had broken up and just said goodbye to each other with a hug instead of that ugly kiss and then they would have shown El with all her friends and family in the flashbacks, it would have shown the strength of platonic love and friendship since they're not capable of making a good tragic love story either by making them look like they broke up for the whole season before doing that suicide scene

that’s the face of a man who just clocked in and already wants to clock out

Forever mad that the show didnt delve into Lucas' struggles as a black kid in a conservative town in the 80s, and that it didnt delve into the struggles of Lumax (an interracial couple) in a conservative town in the 80s
