See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

I absolutely agree with both mentalities that college is not necessary for everyone and also that education is vital, and despise whenever people act like one belief is the opposite of another. Education, in general, should happen at the K-12 level for everyone. It’s important for people to have literacy, basic math skills, historical context, financial literacy, etc, and, if that K-12 education is effective, that is what people will get from it (If it’s not effective, that is a whole other issue on a systemic level). College should be more for specialized education- degrees in things that the general public does not need to know to be a functioning member of society and protect themselves from misinformation/manipulation of facts. There are plenty of jobs out there that really only require job training and experience to master instead of memorizing and studying theory. I do not think someone is evil or stupid for not going or not wanting to go to college; people that keep the world running, especially most blue collar jobs, are better off learning from programs like votechs, entry-level positions, or apprenticeships than slaving away in a classroom. I personally want to go to college, but it should not be treated like a necessity for someone to be adequately educated

education college respect blue collar workers always btw

i truly think that this recent trend of “if you relate to a post about a different identity than your own you are ~derailing~ and taking over the conversation” is incredibly harmful.

i recently experienced some pretty severe transphobic abuse in my workplace (children’s home) that included having food thrown at me, being called slurs, being told i was a pervert because i am trans. one of the managers talked with me afterwards and shared that he had had a similar experience as an Asian man. this wasn’t him derailing my experience, or talking over me, or making things about himself. he was communicating “hey, i know how it feels and how much it sucks. you’re not alone.”

THAT is what solidarity IS. i don’t know what it’s like to be Asian, he doesnt know what it’s like to be trans, but we both had a similar experience and we were able to turn a horrible experience into an opportunity for bonding and comfort.

stop looking at people’s attempts as solidarity as an attack. and hey, you never know - you could find an opportunity to grow closer to other people.

As a trans woman, why the fuck is one of my sisters for coming at me for showing appreciation for the trans men and trans mascs in my life who have helped me discover who I am.

I didn't have a lot of trans women in my life growing up, but I did have trans men/mascs. The first trans person I ever met was a trans man, he's my cousin. Trans men/mascs showed me that I don't have to live with the life that was assigned to me. My highschool sweetheart ended up being a trans man and so did my first husband. Dating a trans man is what first got me to question my gender (Thank you @gnomeskillet for dealing with my dumbass, I miss your face) and it was a trans masc nonbinary person who finally cracked my egg. For as long as I remember, it was trans men who were there for me and helped me discover who I really am. Not that trans women didn't help, they just weren't as much as a presence and the men were until recently.

So when I share my experiences and appreciation and another trans woman, a friend no less, responds with "Is this satire?" and tells me I'm throwing trans women under the bus and I "need to talk to more trans women" it pissed me off. We are literally fighting the same fight, why does it matter that men are who taught me what it means to be trans? And I know this isn't an isolated incident, I see so many trans men/masc talking about how they are treated like they somehow betrayed the community by finding their true selves or how a lot of the anti-men discourse hurts them as much as it does cis men (that's a whole other rant about how "All men are evil" is bioessentialism and that's terf talk) and all I can think is why? Those are our brothers and siblings. They deserve all the same care and compassion as we get, so why the fuck are we attacking them?

To my trans sisters who are participating in this hateful discourse, do better.

To all the trans men/mascs reading this, I love you and you are amazing. Thank you for helping me be who I am today.

Scientific fraud is the most baffling thing ever to me like do they think they're just going to make a huge breakthrough and no one will notice that it's fake by trying to replicate their results

my corner store guy is a 50 year old man who's my best friend in the world and recently he was like "you're too pretty to be single I have some nephews you should meet. very handsome!" and I was like "a niece might be more up my alley" and he just got more excited and said "ah even better! I was overselling my nephews but my nieces are very beautiful"
