FANDOM, THE TWIN CITIES NEED YOU

Alpha News, our local fascist outlet that “leaked” Jonathan Ross’s video of him murdering Renee Good, which also pushed George Floyd conspiracy theories, with an anchor married to loathsome fascist police union boss Bob Kroll (Liz Collin), has set up another doxx line, this time for ICE observers.

WE NEED THEM TO BE OVERWHELMED WITH USELESS INFORMATION.

Please help us! We are under occupation!

Their post about it:

This is something you can do 100% remotely that is VERY HELPFUL to stop observers from being intimidated out of doing this vital work. It is not an exaggeration to say spamming this line will save lives: the more observers we have, the fewer people ICE can abduct, abuse, murder, and send to concentration camps.

PLEASE REBLOG AND SHARE.

Civil rights pioneer

Claudette Colvin, whose 1955 arrest for refusing to give up her seat on a segregated Montgomery bus helped spark the modern civil rights movement, has died. She was 86.

Her death was announced Tuesday by the Claudette Colvin Legacy Foundation. Ashley D. Roseboro of the organization confirmed she died in Texas.

Colvin was arrested months before Rosa Parks gained international fame before refusing to give up her seat on a segregated bus.

“Friends outside of Minnesota please read. I’m sharing a post written by a personal friend and medical doctor:
Friends outside MN, you need to know what is happening here. Everyone knows that ICE shot and killed a woman here on Wednesday. But that’s not the only thing that’s going on:

  • ICE agents are cruising areas with immigrant-owned businesses, and kidnapping patrons and employees alike. Yesterday they abducted two US citizen employees at a suburban Target, one who was begging them to allow him to go get his passport to show them.
  • ICE is going door to door in immigrant-heavy neighborhoods, asking residents where their immigrant neighbors live. Read that again. If it sounds like something out of your high school history textbook, that’s because it is.
  • ICE is targeting schools and school buses. They pepper sprayed teenagers and abducted two school staff members at the high school up the street from me on Wednesday. Police are literally escorting school buses to ensure children can get to school and home safely. The Minneapolis Public Schools have moved to virtual learning for the next 4 weeks because it’s unsafe for children or teachers to physically come to school.
  • They are targeting hospitals and clinics. Patients are scared and are cancelling their appointments or just not showing up. Kids are missing their checkups and vaccines, folks aren’t getting their cancer care, etc.
  • They are smashing windows in cars and homes.
  • ICE is increasingly picking up Native Americans—again, targeting folks based on skin color alone.
  • They are arresting and beating legal observers. A friend of a friend had her arm broken yesterday. Folks are showing up at local hospitals, brought in in ICE custody, with severe injuries that are absolutely inconsistent with mechanism of injury reported by ICE. (Think: patient appears to have been beaten unconscious, while ICE agent says he slipped and fell.)
I can’t emphasize enough that these ICE agents do not have warrants. There are 2,000+ agents here and they are simply hunting for anyone that’s not white. It doesn’t matter if you’re a citizen or a green card holder, they will kidnap you first and ask questions later.

But the community is fighting back.
  • Protests are happening every day.
  • Community groups have been leading know-your-rights sessions for months, often to packed venues.
  • Whistles are being distributed by the thousands, carried on keychains and worn on coat zippers, always at the ready to be blown in warning if ICE is spotted.
  • Drivers are following ICE vehicles, blaring their horns in warning.
  • Businesses are locking their doors even while open to keep employees and customers safe. As I type this, I’m standing guard at the locked door of our neighborhood burrito joint while I wait for my takeout order, so the employees can focus on their jobs. The place is packed with neighbors supporting this small business.
  • Anti-ICE signs are posted everywhere. The community is making it crystal clear that ICE is not welcome here.
  • Parents and neighbors are standing guard outside schools, organizing carpools, and escorting kids to and from school on foot.
  • Parents of kids in Spanish-immersion daycare (there are a LOT of these daycares here!) are keeping their kids home so the teachers don’t have to take the risk of coming to work.
  • Churches and community groups are holding fundraisers to buy and deliver groceries to families who don’t feel safe leaving home.
  • Mutual aid money is going out to folks who can’t make rent because they can’t work or because a breadwinner was abducted, or who need a warm place to stay after their home’s windows were smashed.

THAT is what is happening here. This fight is ongoing and it’s horrifying to watch. But we are not backing down. To my friends in other cities and states, don’t think for a minute that this won’t happen in your town. It will. Be ready. Learn from us, as we have learned from Portland and Chicago and New York. Fight back. Don’t let us get to the last line of Martin Niemoller’s poem.”

    -Grant Boulanger

Here’s an AP news brief with a little more info. It’s limited in the way major news outlets are right now but provides context that supports the personal account shared.

As someone living this-other things that happened within this week included ICE breaking down the door to a family’s home, with an administrative warrant (not the judicial warrant needed to enter a private space) and kidnapping a resident from it: https://www.mprnews.org/episode/2026/01/13/warrantless-ice-entry-in-minneapolis-heightens-fears-amid-statewide-enforcement-surge.

My coworker’s wife just documented her neighbor being taken. Friends have started patrolling outside of their kids schools to keep kids safe; white friends are picking up BIPOC kids to bring them to events since their parents might not be safe. Minneapolis and St Paul are now offering distance learning because people just aren’t leaving their homes because it’s not safe. ICE is all over-and not just in the large metropolitan areas, but in smaller cities too. And they’re ramping up their tactics against legal observers-one observer had said she was in her car and ICE ran her license plate and then drove to her home. And ICE can do blatantly illegal things but they nail observers for every minor infraction.

However, thousands across the state are protesting, doing mutual aid, creating hyper local groups to show up and observe ICE wherever they are so they can’t just silently disappear our neighbors, and so much more. If you want to donate, I highly recommend doing so to Unidos MN, who are doing a ton of good right now.

I am mainly on this app as a way to escape this dystopic bullshit for a little bit so you probably won’t see much more from me on this, but it’s just getting so so bad.

The Hiveworks Artists Guild has released a statement alleging various incompetence and mismanagement in Hiveworks leadership. You should read the whole thing, but the main claims are

  • Hiveworks leadership was a forbidden enigma of mystery and no one knew what the fuck was going on at any time.
  • Hiveworks spent money inappropriately, most notably Xel using Kickstarter money to make a"large personal purchase".
  • Less dramatically but still bad, money was spent on ads for comics that were long-dead instead of active ones [This is the only claim I can say 100% is true; I’ve seen ads for dead comics on Hiveworks sites a lot and have long been confused by it]
  • Hiveworks leadership were just generally huge assholes
  • Hiveworks staff has not been getting paid, and Hiveworks has $17,000 in unpaid wages floating, and $340,000 in debt.
  • Support Hiveworks Artists in this trying time
  • Don’t spread speculation and rumors

Pretty much every claim made here has been floating around for years, so I believe every word of this, and know how difficult it is for the Hiveworks Artist Guild to stand up so officially like this. If you know any struggling Hiveworks artists that you like, maybe now’s a good time to throw ‘em a few bucks on Patreon.

They cut off usda funding from Minnesota, which includes wic and snap. Please consider donating to food banks around the area or food drives. Many immigrants are too scared to leave their homes to shop as well and a community member is doing great work.

Im gonna shill for Marie Kondo again but this is why I find her books (yes, books, the TV show is fun but ultimately misses a lot of the core ideas) so good.

A lot of home org advice fully misses this aspect. Kondo not only acknowledges it, but leans into it. And ultimately this helps motivste me to keep my space tidy - it’s really hard to me to keep on the nebulous goal of self-care, but much easier to get up and put things away if I envision my salt and pepper grinders as like, retail workers who are now standing in an empty shop (my dining table) and just wanna go home (the spice rack where they live).

Normie tidying process: that heater should be put away for summer! I mean, I’m not gonna need it

Me: well it’s just chilling and also I can’t be arsed.

Kondo: that heater has done a good job keeping you warm over winter and now it should get to go have a rest in the cupboard

Me: !! Sabbatical for my heater!! Thank you for your service sir and have a very nice break!

just saw a tiktok or something where the person was saying they did this and they were on a hike and they were like “i managed to get myself to go on this hike because i promised my boots we would go” and its like. OH YEAH. THAT.

Avelo Airlines cuts ties with ICE, ends deportation flights - al.com

Avelo Airlines, the only commercial carrier believed to have been operating full deportation flights on a regular basis for the Trump administration, is ending its relationship with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and will no longer charter those deportations.

The budget carrier signed an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security in April 2025 to operate ICE flights out of Arizona, drawing immediate protests and calls to boycott.

At the time, the airline acknowledged the decision may be controversial but said it was expected to support company expansion and job protection. However, after less than a year since inking the deal, Avelo has admitted that the program became too costly and complex to continue.

CEO Andrew Levy acknowledged the backlash in an email to employees late Tuesday.

“We moved a portion of our fleet into a government program which promised more financial stability but placed us in the center of a political controversy,” Levy wrote in the email, obtained by CNBC.

“The program provided short-term benefits but ultimately did not deliver enough consistent and predictable revenue to overcome its operational complexity and costs.” (aph)

rose landry gets cast as the lead in a film that’s basically a lesbian version of heated rivalry, and she immediately tries to find a way to bring shane in as a hockey advisor but there’s just no way he can make the time commitment. he can (and does!) help her with her skating in the off-season, but most of his year is tied up in hockey. so she asks if he knows anyone who might be interested in the gig, or if he has any recommendations, and it turns out that he does. it turns out that his boyfriend’s childhood best friend knows everything there is to know about hockey, actually, and she is more than happy to point that out to you in great detail, and do you want me to pass along her number???

and rose does. she really, really does.
