It's that time of year...to donate!

This artwork was generously created by a student at a school serviced by our Restorative Justice program.

During the holidays, families face increased pressures to resolve issues like parenting time, divorce, or even managing finances. Mediation can help, building stronger communication skills and supporting better solutions. Our goal? To help you enjoy the holidays and build stronger, lasting relationships.

Congrats to Our RJ Artwork Winners 2025

Artwork done by students at the schools we service.

Students at schools serviced by our Restorative Justice program submitted art to our center for the 2025 RJ Artwork Competition. They were prompted to answer the question, What does RJ mean to me? Students wrote and created artwork showing a variety of unique approaches to building peace and repairing relationships.

Highlights:

  • My art shows two [sic] friends who are having a hard time and one goes to RJ to get help and by the end they are friends and a lot better!
  • You must do the things you think you can't do.
  • I thought this would motivate kids/students to going to R.J. I have had personal experiences and it has helped me so much. I hope kids find R.J. and get the help they need.

Special Workshop at Holt High School and Holt Junior High with Kristy Jackson

Restorative Justice Facilitator Kristy Jackson in her office

This month, Kristy led an educational workshop designed to help students build goal-setting skills using the S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) method.

Holt continues to demonstrate its commitment to meeting students where they are, and this session was a meaningful example of that dedication.

During the workshop, students explored the importance of setting goals, understanding graduation requirements, and mapping out achievable steps toward their future success.

The workshop highlights RSCCM's goal to strengthen accountability, reinforce responsibility, and ultimately contribute to increased graduation rates. Through this workshop and other efforts, RSCCM is empowering students not only to navigate conflict, but to build the skills that help them thrive academically and personally.

Sneak Peek of Our New Website

We're chiming in the new year with a website upgrade. Look forward to our 2026 website re-launch with new bells and whistles straight from Santa's sleigh.

Director's Note

“It’s that time of year.” We hear this often when the weather turns cold and icy—but we also hear it in the way people talk about life’s harder seasons. When challenges demand grit and endurance, many slip into a narrow mindset. The downside is that this tunnel vision limits our creativity and our capacity to connect.

By the time conflicts reach our center, this pattern is familiar. People are often deeply rooted in their positions and convinced they already know how the conversation will unfold. That is precisely why we understand our mission not simply as resolving conflict, but as reestablishing community. A resolution is an outcome; rebuilding a sense of community is transformative groundwork. It shifts the entire experience.

So yes—it's that time of year. The days are colder and darker, but it’s also the season when we help people rediscover their warmth, rekindle their light, and find their shine again.
