Starting off my challenge to make 1 zine every week until march, it’s some of my favourite baby birds!
I’m doing this challenge to try to kick my habit of overthinking and never starting stuff, though I will admit I’m posting this now on my self-appointed deadline day because I spent the whole week overthinking, gotta start somewhere I guess. Once I forced myself to just sit down and just start drawing it only took me an hour which makes me feel a bit silly

My name is Fadi. I am 32 years old, a father of four children 👨👩👧👦.
I am writing to you from Gaza 🇵🇸—a place where pain has become part of our daily life, and fear never leaves us.
In this war, we didn’t only lose our home 🏚️—we lost our sense of safety.
My wife and my daughter were injured by the bombardment 💔.
I saw the pain in their eyes and could do nothing but pray and endure.
As a father and a husband, this helplessness breaks my heart.
Today, we live in a tent ⛺, facing cold, hunger, and harsh days.
We walk through the markets with tears in our eyes 😢, unable to provide even the simplest needs for our children.
Sometimes my children go to sleep hungry, asking me about tomorrow… and I have no answer.
I am not asking for much 🤲—
just a chance to live with dignity,
to provide medicine for my wife and daughter, food for my children,
and warmth to protect us from this harsh winter.

it may reach a heart that is able to help.

My name is Yasmin. I am a mother of three—a boy and two girls. My eldest son is 12 years old, and my youngest daughter is just two. We live in Gaza 🇵🇸💔
Like so many mothers here, I dreamed of raising my children in peace, giving them love, warmth, and security. But the war has stolen that dream from us time and time again.
Before the war, our life was simple but full of hope. My husband worked whenever he could, and I took care of our home and children. We didn't own anything luxurious, but we had each other.
Then the bombs started falling.
We lost everything.
Our house was reduced to rubble. My children screamed in terror night after night. We fled with nothing but the clothes on our backs—displaced from north to south, moving from tent to tent, always trying to survive day after day.
We stayed in Khan Younis, then Rafah, and now in the central region—each time we escaped death, but not the pain. My children haven't known safety for over a year. My son learned to walk on the dirt floor of a tent.
When the ceasefire was announced, we thought it was finally over. We returned to our devastated neighborhood in northern Gaza, hoping to rebuild it. But the hope was short-lived—the occupation expanded the "yellow zone," and our neighborhood was completely destroyed. Again.
Now, we are displaced again, living in a small tent with no clean water, no food, and no electricity. My husband is unemployed. I have no way to support my children.
I delayed launching this fundraising campaign because I hoped something would change. I didn't want to ask. But today, I have no choice.
I, Yasmin, am asking for your help. Not just for myself—but for my children, who deserve a future. Who deserve warmth, food, and a safe place to sleep.
Any donation, no matter how small, makes a difference in our lives. Even sharing this message helps it reach those who can give.

My name is Aboud, I'm a 23-year-old from Gaza 🇵🇸💔
I was born and raised under siege. I learned to fight for life, not with weapons, but with patience, hard work, and dignity.
Before the war, I worked hard to support my family. Life was difficult, but I had dreams. I believed in building a future, despite the hardships. But everything changed when the war broke out.
Our home was destroyed.
My loved ones—my family and friends—were captured, either buried under the rubble or killed in airstrikes.
I witnessed death, loss, and destruction that no human being should have to endure.
I, Aboud, stayed in northern Gaza as long as I could, enduring hunger, fear, and the constant bombardment. But in the end, I had no choice but to flee south with my family. We lived in tents, displaced time and time again, carrying nothing but our pain and our hope of one day returning.
When the ceasefire was announced, we thought we finally had a chance to start over. We returned to our neighborhood, only to discover it had been declared part of the expanded "yellow zone." The entire area was razed to the ground. Our dreams were shattered for the second time.
Now, we are displaced again. We live in a tent, with no shelter, no food, and no income. We have nothing left.
I launched this fundraising campaign late, not because our suffering has just begun, but because I tried for so long to cling to hope and face this situation without asking for help. But now, I have no choice.
I, Aboud, humbly ask for your help.
Any donation, no matter how small, can help me support my family and survive in these harsh conditions. Even just sharing this message might reach someone who can give.

After repairing a small room in our destroyed house, we began to live there and start over. Unfortunately, the war came back, and it was even stronger than before 💔. Now, we have no shelter or source of income. We have used up all our savings during the war. I know I created my campaign very late, but that's because I have no other means to help my family 🙏. I am completely confident and hopeful that someone here will help us as much as they can and save my family in these tough circumstances 😔.
I know how painful and frustrating it is to start over from scratch, but I hope to get any amount for my family 🥺🙏.
