TLDR: javon is 20 years old with a rare brain cancer. he needs surgery ASAP or he will only have 1 year left to live. donate to help pay for the surgeries. the money donated will go to paying for this surgery in addition to costs of living, recovery treatment, and physical therapy.
this is not somebody i know personally, but IS someone dear to a friend of mine. if possible, it would be an amazing holiday gift to javon and his family and friends if you supported him. here is more information from the gofundme:
"Our dear friend Javon Mouzon, at just 20 years old, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called a malignant acoustic neuroma at the beginning of the year. This cancer is spreading to other parts of his brain, including his hearing and cognitive functions.
The cancer is mostly affecting the left side of his body, including his left ear, resulting in him losing about 80% of his hearing in that ear. Due to where the cancer is located, it can cause him to be off balance, making it difficult for him to walk. This has also affected his left eye, in which he is slowly losing sight. He has also regularly experienced seizures and severe headaches, which can affect his day-to-day routine, ability to work, and play music. Javon also suffers from memory loss and is at a high risk for aneurysms.
For the last eleven months, Javon has been undergoing treatment, which includes chemotherapy. While undergoing this treatment, he has been working 40-hour workweeks and working on music gigs when he has the time. Though at times this isn’t enough, and due to his financial situation, he has often had to sell his belongings to make ends meet.
Recently, doctors have discovered that cancer has begun to spread to the occipital nerve and other parts of his brain, which can affect his cognitive function and depth perception. As this cancer has progressed, these side effects have worsened; he has been taking chemotherapy and Lamictal for seizures. For the better part of a year, the cancer had been stabilizing until recently, when his doctors discovered it had begun to spread once again. The doctor is now requesting that Javon receive surgery, as the cancer will continue to spread and make his condition even worse, and if he does not receive this surgery, he will only have about one year to live.
Once Javon undergoes surgery, he will need a significant amount of assistance to help maintain his home and body while he recovers from his surgery; Having added and estimated his total finances together, we have determined that he will have trouble supporting himself financially, as he will be unable to perform his job and even regular functions for some time as the recovery period will last about six to eight weeks in the hospital, and once he is released, will have to undergo physical therapy for about four to five months.
This time period will be detrimental to Javon's financial responsibilities, and this surgery will have an overall lasting effect on him. We ask for your support and help during these times to help our beloved friend maintain a good quality of life. These funds will help him pay for many of his expenses, as well as support for his medical bills.
