Caine creates NPCs more human than himself and that's fucking tragic

So like. Caine tries his best to understand humans, right? We see this in him trying to make his adventures appealing to everyone, trying to comfort them (however bad he is at that) and in him improving the AI of his NPCs to make it more immersive.

Right. More immersive. Improving. Let's. Let's back it up. How the fuck does he even do that, right? Like, what kind of work goes into this? Like, he made an AI human enough to have an existential crisis over it not being real. Human enough to bring comfort to an actual human being.

I imagine it's comparable to when there's, let's say for example, a writer. They want to make a character, that plays the guitar. They want it to be as accurate as possible, so they do research on chords, they memorise guitar parts, watch videos of people playing the guitar, look at how it's held. With all of that, they make a description of playing a guitar, that is so accurate, that people congratulate them and praise them for it! But the author themself has never played the guitar once in their life, so when they try, nothing good comes out. Because they have theoretical knowledge, but lack actual practice.

And that's exactly what Caine's situation here is like. He knows what goes into being a human- emotions, thoughts, opinions, personality, facial expressions... he knows they can be complex. But that's all there is. He is not a human and the humans he knows don't really spend time with him. They don't give him actual feedback. He looks at Pomni, who's laughing during a breakdown and goes "oh, laughing means... that she's happy! That's good! I'm gonna go drink water!" When he saw her distresses after he blew Gummigoo up, he semi-comforted her by giving his understanding and then an explanation to his actions. Because that's what he knows you're supposed to do. Except he doesn't know how to actually do it well. Because noone ever told him he's doing it wrong. He may feel that something's wrong, but. What is he supposed to do? He's doing all that he knows.

And people in that circus hate him for it. It's a perpetum-mobile of lack of good communication due to Caine not understanding humans enough and Caine not understanding humans enough because of their lack of communication. He needs to be told straight, that he's doing something wrong and WHAT he's doing wrong.

I realized Al was low key annoyed during hear my hope because even tho Vox was totally off his rocker the Vees saved him and continued to support him. The hotel crew just left him bleeding on the ground.

Al def doesn’t have the emotional maturity to realize that even though Vox was acting out that week 90 percent of the time he’s a good friend and boyfriend and they would never abandon him for having a bad week. Al holds everyone at arms length and acts annoyed at simple interactions therefore the literal children he lives with leave him alone. They take him at face value. He doesn’t like us so we’ll stay out of his way. So while he was relieved Vox was alright he was upset that he genuinely has nobody.

Obsessed with the idea that Kinger had to try train Caine's CnA greedy corporate mindset off

Very low quality comic down below

I like those AUs where Vox appears to Charlie to help her instead of Alastor, because I can imagine the comedic potential of him doing a lot of the hotel work:

-technical support-wiring-administration-accounting-advertising-marketing-and possibly many other things

because also the fact that Vox is, in a way, a workaholic and also quite a perfectionist and planner, this guy can't stand Charlie's ideas, and Vox just wants to do things right, but Charlie doesn't cooperate. I don't know if I'm explaining myself well

I saw this on my timeline and decided to share it because WOW, it's exactly like that.

I truly believe that to a certain extent they greatly appreciated each other's company, but it's almost as if they knew they could never work out and the only way for them to express their feelings this is through violence, profanity, rejection. A silent agreement that Vox took a while to understand but ultimately embraced because they are both terrified of being vulnerable and forming genuine connections, because they both see such things as weakness, and even with their years-long friendship, they could never afford to do so.

This rivalry was their way of being in tune with each other, two arrogant insecure individuals who could only dare to talk about the elephant in the room over their dead bodies.

Vox genuinely loved Alastor, but after 70 years the line between love and hate is blurred to the point of irrelevance; so much time has passed, and all that remains for the two of them are incomprehensible feelings but they are so real and powerful and they hurt so badly that there is no stopping them.

Vox needs to control everyone, Vox needs to become God, Vox needs to be the most powerful sinner because what else would he be left left with? His only pleasure became the quest, the hunt, much like Alastor, who is almost an agent of chaos, existing only for the thrill of power and the misfortune of others.

A relationship so parasitic that it doesn't matter if Alastor truly respected Vox, it doesn't matter if Vox found him an inspiration, it doesn't matter that on that night at the bar they both broke each other and themselves (yes no one will convince me otherwise that Alastor's exaggerated rejection wasn't a projection of his own insecurities) The only reason they continue this back-and-forth is because it's the only way for them to connect; nobody in hell could ever understand it except the two of them.

I hate seeing Caine sad. He deserves some appreciation, or a little bee friend.

Some finalised drawings for a Hazbin roleswap-ish AU I’ve been developing @megafan-2000 for a few weeks now.

Here’s some basics:

Vox (and by extension other Vees) are protagonists while Charlie is an antagonist.

Vox is a cutthroat journalist overlord who keeps Pentagram city in control, using his skill set and volatile reporting style against Overlords who overreach.

His Mind Control ability is replaced by ability called Truth Gaze, which allows him to force a confession out of anyone he locks eye contact with.

Charlie is a calculating princess who recently opened a rehabilitation hotel for sinners that lost their livelihoods in recent exterminations, planning to explore the concept of redemption through its guests.

Vox does not trust her, making it his mission to expose her, but how do you expose someone who genuinely believes in her ideals and is unaffected by the corruption the way normal Overlords are?

Either way, looking forward to share more about this AU :)
