since i don’t have the luxury of stalling and i knew chapter seven had the roughest transition because something was missing that i couldn’t pinpoint, i went, okay. not gonna look at the previous draft or the current outline and i’m just gonna wing it and hope to fuck that whatever materializes doesn’t alter the whole fucking story because we’re too late in the game for any major changes.
it did take since saturday, and a couple of hasty chapter breaks and paragraph rewrites, but i thoughtlessly put down a line that worked like fucking miracle glue. it fucks, re-contextualizes a whole lotta stuff that will need plugging in during the upcoming chapters and some minor adjustments in the first half but. goddamn. goddamn.
nothing really beats the satisfaction of knowing your story and characters so well that one minor shift while writing with abandon makes it all click into place.
writer culture is knowing you're going to look back on your work and cringe but also knowing you won't improve if you don't write right now so you churn out some bullshit anyways
