I haven't been here for an eternity, cause life is slowly chewing me piece by piece, but anyway - here's some Cicero art, cause I've been in love with this little fool for more than ten years (same goes my love for Skyrim in general), and never did any proper art with him..♥
in theory, i can understand what they were going for when they made a central obstacle in 'the staff of magnus' quest magicka drain. but, in practice, it really is the funniest thing in the world.
because, for starters, you really don't need to know how to use pretty much any magic to get into the college. and when you do get in, you only ever get one flimsy lesson on wards throughout the entire questline and then immediately get thrust into a series of pretty standard dungeon crawls, which you can deal with however you please, virtually no magic required. there are no incentives to learn any more magic throughout the rest of the questline either, so - really - if you stumbled into the college with a bow or a sword (and you are essentially required to join as part of the completely unrelated main questline), you're probably gonna stick to those weapons. and finally, as a cherry on top of this decidedly non-magical cake, one of the main quests is only easy if you are... NOT a mage. you get actively rewarded if you never picked up magic during your time at the Famous School For Mages.
AND THEN, after you have potentially breezed through the entire questline using nigh zero magic - congratulations! you have been appointed the arch-mage of this magical college! incredible.
coming up with aus for your own ocs is so funny like yeah these are my guys i made up but in a different circumstance. yeah no i also made that circumstance up

inspired by that one Marble Hornets livestream where Joseph and Troy talk about how Alex has never done drugs in his life but if given the opportunity he would act like he knew what he was doing. And also they imitated him acting like he knows and then said "then there's uncomfortable looks at him."
