Poem:

“I am not a graceful person.
I am not a Sunday morning or a Friday sunset.
I am a Tuesday 2 a.m., gunshots muffled by a few city blocks,
I am a broken window during February.
My bones crack on a nightly basis.
I fall from elegance with a dull thud,
and I apologize for my awkward sadness.
I sometimes believe that I don’t belong around people,
that I belong to all the leap days that didn’t happen.
The way light and darkness mix under my skin has become a storm.
You don’t see the lightning, but you hear the echoes.”

björk birthday

“If you were born in the 80s or 90s, you grew up in a world that doesn’t exist anymore.

You remember when friendship meant knocking on someone’s door, not sending a text.

When Saturday mornings were made for cartoons, not scrolling feeds.

When happiness came from mixed tapes, bike rides, and street lights telling you it was time to go home.

But here’s what makes your generation different - you were the bridge, the last to know life without technology, and the first to grow up adapting to it.

You lived through payphones and dial-up, and then watched the world transform into something faster, louder and harder to escape…

Maybe that’s why people born in the 80’s and 90’s carry a certain ache;

A nostalgia for simplicity, a quiet wish that joy would still feel as easy as it once did.

If that feels like you, it’s because you carry two worlds inside you…”

For us born in the 80s and the 90s, we grew up in two different worlds and even more different now. We were the last kids to know life without constant screens, and the first to adapt to them. A childhood that doesn’t exist anymore, but the yearning for it lives forever in us. Like Dolly Parton said, “in the good old days when times were bad,” but really the 2020s are too much 🌌✨
