Anonymous asked:

What is the best way to financially help Ukraine? Is it better to go through organizations or gofundmes or something else I'm not aware of?

qqueenofhades answered:

Thanks for asking, nonnie. That’s very kind of you. If you or anyone else has some spare change and wants to give, here are a few ideas:

  • United24 is the official fundraising platform established by President Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian governmental members and directs money to all areas of the country.
  • The Olena Zelenska Foundation is primarily focused on medical, humanitarian, and educational aid across the country and was founded by the First Lady.
  • Stand for Ukraine gives you a range of charity options, depending on whether you want to donate directly to the military, or you would prefer to fund non-lethal or humanitarian aid, etc.
  • Come Back Alive is the main fundraising platform for the Ukrainian military. You can choose to donate to air defense, heavy weapons, demining, medical aid, overall combat equipment, etc.
  • Donate to Ukraine’s Defenders also offers various (carefully vetted) links and options to donate to rebuilding projects, private medical assistance programs, initiatives for democracy, and others.

the most #UselessLesbian thing i have ever done was when i was trying to figure out if this girl liked me or not, just constantly arguing with myself about it, and after a couple, uh, months, of this, i was like, “god i wish i could just like… go to court and lay out all this evidence and have a couple lawyers argue over the TRUE MEANING of her text messages, and then a judge tells me if she likes me or not.” and then the proverbial lightbulb went off over my proverbial head, and i dug into my mock trial folder from high school and found the trial guidelines and i wrote out an entire trial transcript featuring a plaintiff (me), my attorney (my wildest hopes and dreams), a defense attorney (my worst fears and insecurities), and a judge (my desperate attempt at rationality). the final product was several thousand words long. it clarified nothing. at any point in this process did it occur to me to ask her how she felt about me? absolutely not. did i ever stop and think, “hey, maybe i should tell her that i like her?” absolutely not. that’s for people who take risks and i don’t take risks i take myself to court in my own head.

The US is crazy bc like so many people have intense conspiracy theories about the government like "I think there's a secret elite group of people who control everything" and you can tell them "actually you're not completely wrong, it's just not a secret group of people, it's a bunch of rich people and lobbyists who are doing it all out in the open" and they'll be like "hmmn I don't think it's THOSE people though. I prefer my racist & antisemitic theories"

tittyinfinity

They'll be like "I heard there's a powerful ring of pedophiles who are influencing the country" and you'll tell them "I mean yeah that's what the Epstein files are about" and they'll say "no I'm pretty sure this has to do with The Queers actually"

Conspiracy theory no one will ever accept: What if the people secretly controlling the world are the same people obviously controlling the world?

saw someone post "I don't understand why anyone would have separate 'winter tires' unless they're just looking for things to spend money on" and looked at her account and she's from LA. which is funny but I think we're all guilty of similar behavior sometimes. if you see people spending time and effort on something that seems stupid to you it's worth considering whether you're the Californian in this scenario

unconventiononthelawofthesea

people from California may be particularly susceptible to this particular failure but this type of thinking is not unique to them. some other examples:

  • someone who lives in a place with no dangerous wildlife asking why you would bring a gun on a camping trip.
  • someone who lives in a place with good public transit asking why anyone bothers owning a car.
  • someone who lives in a place with cheap healthcare asking why someone doesn't go to the doctor about something.
  • considering an understanding of cold-weather layering a basic life skill.
  • considering driving a basic life skill.
  • assuming everyone knows how to swim
  • assuming everyone knows how to ski
  • assuming everyone knows the rules of football (either kind)
  • wondering why people in a place where houses are built to shed heat and nobody owns winter clothes are worried about 40F weather.
  • viewing air conditioning as a luxury

only through awareness of all of our capacity to be the (so)californian will you avoid it.
