Look at my furries .

I never used to be a note taker. I’m still not. I still hate it. There’s some things you do need to take notes about though.

You think from past experience that you will remember all of these definitions and structures.

You are wrong.

I have two types of notes I take. Straight up a personal pocket dictionary and a bulleted list.

Personal pocket dictionary is usually for taking notes out of textbooks. Bulleted list is for taking notes during speeches or lectures.

I go bullet point. Sub bullet point under that one if that thing turned out to be a larger topic. Maybe I’ll underline a key word sometimes. That’s it.

Personal dictionary I just hunt for definitions in the textbook and make dictionary entries by hand. I usually do it in a tiny notebook so I can keep it with me while I’m working. I have one I made for myself about accounting terms I get out of my textbooks and I use it all the time.

You really really don’t have to get fancy about it. All these people who make pretty notes with colored pens and stuff? Good for them. I hate doing that. Bulleted list. Dictionary.
