@delicatesoulcowboy

I just wanna write why I like top draco and say why it makes perfect sense, I'm honestly kinda tired of the sheer amount of top harry fics, and no offense people do their thing, but still it feels like a lie and I wanna just say my opinion and perception of the dynamics of top draco and bottom harry and why it hooks me like an addict! Let's start🥁🎉

I like draco top, simply cuz he's a pureblood prince, his family on both sides are purebloods and he was raised to uphold all their legacies and thier traditions. ( before anyone comes for me, I'm not finished ), But it's not my primary reason, it complies the purposes tho, and draco was raised to be the head of the house and was treated as such since he was just a young boy, he was groomed to be disciplined, always up-headed, always on the top, taught politics and how to run governments and to write laws and everything. Then comes his character, he was always been someone who's very proud, in my perspective he still is, kinda, in a way that he doesn't always still needs the blood purity and superiority, yet strong rooted on certain old traditions and his family legacies ( before voldemart ), and certain duties. He constantly fought and bullied Harry cuz Harry refused him, rejected his friendship offer, and that was a new thing to him, he never ever got that experience before in his life and that kinda made him feel frustrated and embarrassed and mad. Then all leads to voldemart and the usual shenanigans we knew already. But he has always been strong, afraid? ABSOLUTELY!!! but at the same time, he was STRONG too!!!!.

Now comes Harry! First thing is he was abused as a child, he's malnutrition, and never truly felt what's it to be loved freely before, he ate scraps and leftovers while forced to do chores, he never knew about his before, fed lots of lies, those kinds created trauma in him ( no one can deny unless you are an freaking idiot ), he in a way always felt that love is compelling and almost like transaction, that he constantly needs to give the other persons something to keep on having that, tho Hermione and Ron worked to make him see family isn't conditional, he never truly understood that nor completely accepted that, atleast not when it comes to him. He was pushed into the role of savior at 11 years old and continued to do so till he's 17 only to find out he was only raised to get killed, like a sacrificial lamb. He always put himself in danger to save others, cuz in somewhere in his mind, he always thought that's how it's supposed to be, that's the only way he'll have the only people who loves him and who he loves in his life, he kinda developed a savior complex and that's the only way he knew how to live, to keep people safe, to have people need him, but after the battle of hogwarts, after everything happened and shattered, he finally felt overwhelmed, and wanted a way Out to a quite life.

I have always felt something wrong with the way they made him an auror, because to me personally after everything he has been through, after spending his entire life in a war, I could never see him go on and took over an auror role as it would only put him back on where he started, I have always felt, he might have decided its enough and just want some quite and peace.

Now onto the drarry complex

To me personally, I have always felt after everything harry would feel enough, he now just wants to rest, have someone to take care of him, protect him, provide for him, just love him for him and him alone, someone who has seen his best and worst sides, someone strong enough to stand beside him, someone whose ego won't hurt when people see him, they only focus on him, someone with whom he can lay on his head over their shoulder, who'd be his anchor, after everything, he just wants , needs someone who would just be there for him, in silence, in loudness, in love, and in strength. He would probably want to shed his old life, his name, his story and even his skin!

I think draco was raised to be all of those aforementioned things, apart from that, after all the shenanigans happened, all those hatred, those gossips, those sideyes, and murmuring under their breaths and those sneaky comments that flows his direction, he would be yearning to feel feared ( not in the bad way but just of power ), respected and most importantly needed!! He would wish that someone would love him unconditionally, fiercely and openingly, without guilt or fear or obligation or shame, he would want someone to want him, want him, need him, to love them, to protect them, to provide for them, to live with them, to have a family, to continue their family line, his family line and legacy without any shame. He would want someone who wouldn't hesitate to wear his family name, his name!

Conclusion

In conclusion, with drarry, I think draco is top, cuz he would love to treat harry as prince without overwhelming him and would protect him with his life and provide for him with his everything and would give and be his strength and anchor, while harry would give draco the love he deserves, the respect and a family, would wear his name as a sign of everything and make him feel actually better as a person, especially as a Malfoy , as a pureblood who was raised to be one ❤️💚

These are just my personal opinions, if you don't like then don't read it, just because I stated these doesn't mean you have agree with me nor disagree, you do what you like and so do I, so let's just peace out and if you all find any typo error, just kindly ignore it . ☺️☺️☺️

Funnily enough, back in the day (we’re talking early 2000s) there were a lot more Top!Draco fics around than now. And I’ve been wondering why. Because I so so so agree with you!

To me Drarry is a classic Switch!Ship but their general dynamic - inside and outside the metaphorical bedroom - is Top!Draco/Bottom!Harry leaning for so many reason.

And if you ask me, this constant push and pull amongst them is exactly what’s kept this ship and alive for decades. They’re a delight to write fanfiction about because they are so versatile; figuratively as well as literally. They compliment each other as much as they ridicule one another.

Harry who’s been manipulated all his life and who ends up doing what’s expected if him might struggle with his own identity after the way. Who even is he without his purpose? I doubt he’d learn that with sb like Ginny by his side who was molding herself into the role of Harry’s gf rather than asking herself: Do I actually like him or am I just fangirling?

Wouldn’t it be much more beneficial for him to have a partner who challenges him and calls him out in his bs? No one who’s been through what Harry’s been through - and who’s in his right mind after - would willingly join the Aurora and marry a woman who looks like his dead mother because somehow that’s supposed to fix his childhood trauma.

Harry would totally struggle and need to do a lot of healing and therapy to learn how to trust Draco and give up control. But the fact alone that someone who he’s been his biggest adversary (Harry’s opinion) could love him and care for and about him would give him such a sense of security that it would be immensely healing for his tormented soul.

And don’t get me started on Draco! He’s got all the equipment to be a great partner for Harry but he needs to learn how to get over himself and that the power he obviously has over Harry (who’s OBSESSED!) is not just a huge responsibility but also a great opportunity to work on his egotism. That includes letting people see when he’s in need of support (bathroom scene) instead of lashing out. And that expressing vulnerability doesn’t equal incompetence.

They perfectly show that struggling with acknowledging that deserving love is not conditional but a universal right of a living things, including two idiot wizards.

But in the end they are two sides of the same coin with Draco just making a fantastic top even when he’s bottoming.

That being said, no hate if you prefer your Drarry differently. That’s the beauty of fanfiction and our save heaven Ao3.

Happy shipping!

"Harry had not spared Malfoy much thought."

The next paragraph contains the word 'Malfoy' five times.

hahahahah I knowwwww. It's so funny. Truly an iconic, but often underrated, drarry moment from book 6. I feel like that bit is just a summary of their whole dynamic tbh.

"Harry had not spared Malfoy much thought - relative to how much Harry usually thought of Malfoy."

Broke: Harry actually didn’t think about Draco that much.

Woke: Harry thought about Draco a lot, but was in denial about it.

Bespoke: Harry thought about Draco a lot but compared to the usual amount that he thinks about Draco he actually was thinking about him relatively little because he was also thinking about some other things too, and usually he thinks about just Draco.

Please consider: Harry is aware of how much he thinks about Draco, but thinks that is a normal amount of thinking about Draco

Ron: Why do you remember everything you ever saw Draco do?

Harry: What, like you don't?

Ron: ....

Has anyone figured out what’s so viscerally wrong with this woman yet

She’s so one dimensionally evil you guys 😭😭 how is she real

For @drarrymicrofic prompt: “KILLSHOT - Magdalena Bay” wc 598

Moonlight spills through the window, the only light in the room, and it catches Draco just right—pale skin glows. Like he’s from another world where angels are born.

The mattress dips, then settles, as Draco pulls free of the sheets. His hair is a mess, back marked in faint, criss-crossed lines that Harry put there. A claim.

Harry watches from the corner of his eye, still sprawled on his front, skin tacky, unmoving. He always waits a moment before cleaning himself. It’s Draco’s claim. Not that he knows it.

“You know—” Harry starts, then stops, voice muffled against his arm.

Draco glances over, trousers halfway up his thighs. He never bothers with boxers—he’s only heading for the Floo. Destination: his own bed.

“I know what?” Draco asks, buckling his belt.

Harry pushes up onto his elbows and looks at him properly. “You could stay,” he says. “You don’t always have to run away.”

Draco smirks.

Harry used to hate that smirk. Before. Before they started sleeping together. Before they learned each other again. Now he knows there are different versions of it, and this one—the one meant for Harry—is quieter. Careful. Full of things Draco isn’t brave enough to say.

“I’m not running away,” Draco replies lightly, flicking his wand. His shirt is somewhere over the bannister, and his coat is likely in the living room.

“Stay,” Harry says. Not loud. Not pleading. Just firm.

The clothes fly into the bedroom. Draco catches them easily—but his grip tightens, knuckles whitening, and he doesn’t move.

“I can’t,” he says, and this time he doesn’t hide the sadness.

“Why not?” Harry asks, because he’s done pretending this doesn’t hurt. Done waking up alone. Done feeling like he’s constantly stepping wrong in something that never gets named.

Draco gestures vaguely between them. “Because this isn’t… like that.”

“Like what?”

“Fuck’s sake, Harry.” His voice is sad, and he’s staring at the floor.

Draco only swears like that when they’re fighting, or when they’re fucking—and they’ve just finished fucking. Harry doesn’t rise to the bite. If he does, Draco will use it as an excuse to disappear.

“Draco,” Harry says softly. “I want you to stay.”

He shifts to his knees at the edge of the bed, unashamed, steady. Draco doesn’t look at him—but he doesn’t leave either. So Harry reaches out, takes the clothes from Draco’s hand, and drops them to the floor.

“Stay,” he repeats, quieter now.

He unbuckles Draco’s belt. It slides free without resistance, and the stupid part of Harry’s brain decides that means something. That if Draco truly wanted to go, the belt would catch.

Harry takes Draco’s hand and guides him back onto the mattress. Draco lets it happen.

They’re level now. Knees on the bed. Close enough that Harry can feel the heat coming off him, but he’s trembling as if he’s cold.

Draco still won’t look at him.

Harry cups his jaw, thumb brushing gently over flushed skin. “Draco.”

Draco finally meets his eyes. “This could wreck us,” he says as if he’s been thinking it for a long time.

“Okay,” he says simply, because he agrees. “But it could also be everything.”

Something in Draco breaks. Finally. It’s not big or grand or an epilogue in a love story. It’s simple and minute.

In the morning, sunlight streams through the window, and Draco opens his eyes.

“Morning,” he says, voice like honey.

Harry shifts into his arms; it’s warmer in the nook. “Morning,” he says.

Draco doesn’t let go, because he’s finally tired of running.

Ranting against fandom "leaders"

I'm sincerely exasperated and done with people who think themselves the leaders, bosses and high authorities of fandoms. People who just love attention and they desperately want to feel important, so they try to convince fandoms that they're the real authorities of a fanbase, that the only members of the fandom with real, trustworthy information are them, and unless they're the ones sharing updates and news that have yet to come through official sources, the information cannot be trusted.

I've been in fanbases for well over a decade now, and really learned not to trust any "fans" with dictatorial tendencies like that, no one who's too narcissistic, too obsessed with feeling like somebody important in the fandom. I think fandoms should be communities of fans existing in equality - meaning no one tries to be the "boss" or "pack leader" or anything, and we all respect and give each other credit for anything we share. We don't steal fan-made content, and if one fan is the first to report something and we know, we give them credit for finding the information first, and don't grab it and then pretend we got the information first. We should have amiable relationships and form harmonious communities based on our love for one same thing. And most of the time, that's indeed how fandoms work. It was that way for example with Harry Potter, in spite of leading blogs and fandom websites, because even though they became some sort of reference, they never acted as if they never got anything wrong, and as far as I know (do correct me otherwise because this interests me) they didn't fight fans as if trying to compete for leadership, and were normally pretty good at giving people credit, doing nice things to increase the community feeling of the fandom such as sharing fanart from different users.

But not all fandoms are so nice, obviously. However I'm particularly appalled by what I've found in the Strike fandom. I've talked before about the website Strikefans and the moderators of the Strike community in Reddit (who may or may not be the exact same people) but I'm aware I've got newer followers who maybe missed it and that aside, I've also noticed new things about it that I'd like to rant about. Obviously everyone is free to keep using Strikefans or checking the Strike community moderators in Reddit, because unlike them, I'm not seeking to be some leader, to boss anyone or to tell you how you should behave and who you should believe. You do whatever you want, but I'm going to tell you some of the things that I, a Strike fan from the first days, have noticed Strikefans leaders and the Reddit Strike community moderators do, not necessarily to me directly but to various fans in general, that I find problematic and/or toxic, so that you can use such sources while informed of how those people can behave. I'm going to try and make you aware of these things so that you can stay safe in the fandom, be wary of these things and be more knowledgeable about our "fandom leaders".

  • Posting updates found first by other users as if they found them first.
  • Posting content in Strikefans which comes from other fans' hard research, with zero credit, as if they did the research.
  • Cyberbullying, harassing and pushing away fans that question their authority or that can come up with updates more trustworthy and quickly found than theirs, for example fans who have worked in Strike, or fans who work in book publishing or TV, or fans who spend nights awake writing elaborate research. These narcissistic "leaders" will also try and silent the voices of these fans whom they see as "competition", then steal their updates and research and post it as their own.
  • Posting wrong information based on pure speculation as if it were true and, when proven wrong, they pretend they never did this and act as if they knew right all along.
  • Making up things and pretending they have information from an official source... which they don't have. Then fighting with fans who actually do have the information right.
  • Pitting fans against each other.
  • Years ago there were a couple fans who did elaborate research on all timelines to correct some character info and published super elaborate timelines fans could check any time, which contained detailed information of the exact sources each info came from, including exact book, chapter and sometimes even paragraph. Strikefans stole this work and reposted it (some lines were entirely copypaste) without giving credit and without including OG's explanation of sources. Much of it remains in the website as OG writer wrote it, and Strikefans pushed this user out of the way so much so they deleted these ready for download timelines and stopped engaging with the fanbase altogether. I asked them why they disappeared before I knew the whole story and this fan simply told me "ask Strikefans".
  • Regularly I see fans post updates in tumblr or reddit, and within days, either the Reddit mods or strikefans echo it without giving OG credit - this keeps happening all the time.

These are some things off the top of my head. Take care of yourselves and please don't discredit any fans just because they aren't moderators anywhere. Often those are the best people.

Do we have any proof of this before we go cancel Strike fans?

In response to @trash-burn: This is just a rant of me talking of my own experience and those fans close to me that have shared their thoughts with me as well, which is a small group of people. The "proof" is simply our experience. We also don't condone going and cancelling fans, or anyone for that matter, as I am definitely 100% against cancel culture, and I'm pretty sure the others in this group are too.

We're fans who've been in the fandom for ages, from the start. We love the fandom, and Strike, we're Potterheads, we've all grown-up with first Harry Potter and then Strike. We're the kind of people who were reading fat novels from childhood and counted them in dozens, so we're in multiple fandoms and we, in general terms, love them. We're not hateful or bullies. But we did start talking about all these rather outrageous experiences we were having in some fandoms, the Strike fandom and others that are unrelated to Rowling (and since my blog is very Rowling-focused, I won't get into the others).

I have simply become a sort of "spokesperson" if you wish, because I'm the one in the group who has a Tumblr and who does sometimes write long posts about one thing or the other, with this not being the exception. I also have studies in sociology and psychology and at one point years back was writing a study in fandoms, which got me into going around asking people and meeting and befriending this small group of people who at the time were accounts I regularly enjoyed fandom content from in social media, so we were in the same loop and had lots in common to get us talking. Now they're old friends, and this is still something we talk about, but some of them are worried about being sort of "identified" and kind of blacklisted from the fandom in some way (one of them had to delete their Tumblr years back due to the bullying she received when she started speaking up against some fandom bullies, for example), and others simply aren't so public, so I'm speaking up, because I don't care about being blacklisted or anything, and having met these people, and studied sociology, I know there are many out there who might find solace and comfort in knowing it's not all in their heads and they aren't alone. Because I know how lonesome and difficult it can be to be one standing up against bullies or these kinds of narcissist wannabe-leaders sort of people.

I deliberately don't name names of those I know to be in the small (and it is a small) group of people I am speaking about as people who seek to lead, seek to be seen as some sort of source of reference or fandom gods or something, and bully anyone who could be perceived as "threat" out of the way. I'll call them simply bullies for short even though it's not quite a word that properly encompases everything they are, but for lack of a better word. I do keep a small list of suspicious usernames of people I believe are these sort of bullies, in Instagram, Reddit, Twitter and Tumblr. And it's a small list and I'm pretty sure I've identified two people who have different usernames but are in fact two people (plus others who do typically use the same username everywhere). I could name them but I won't precisely because no one here wants to start a war, or to see people be bullied, harassed or threatened in any way. I assume many of these bullies are immature, attention-seeking people who might be minors or might be adults who have never felt important in their lives until they got to the fandom and who might have delicate mental health, so I deliberately don't want to be attacking them by name.

But I do want to let the fandom know toxic bullies like those are around us, whether it's for perfectly innocent reasons (being too immature, or brainless, or not realising they're doing it, or simply mental health issues), or for darker reasons, such as being kind of like Gus Upcott wanting to control and dominate. There are real Gus Upcotts, so common Rowling could write them into her novels. And we, as a fandom, specially a fandom full of minors, need to be careful and watch our backs.

As for bad things I know this little group of bullies have done, some I've already mentioned: leading someone to close their blog, leading someone to remove their own research (of Strike in this case) from the Internet, stealing content and/or research and/or information from other fans, without giving credit, and all the harassment and in-fighting that happens internally. I know one of the mods in the Reddit Strike group, for example, became such a bully to a couple users (always going after them whenever they said anything in the Strike Reddit, accusing them of lying whenever they had exclusive information such as where were they filming, closing their posts for "violations" before there were rules, which were later posted due to this and made deliberately ambiguous so they could still justify mod harassment, gaslighting fans, etc.) that two users I personally know of left, if not more I don't know of. And then got harassed in private messaging and had to take it to the Reddit mods, who advised blocking the user and leaving that fandom group, and who claim to be investigating the issue, but God knows. I know at least one of these Reddit mods is personally linked, if not a direct leader of the website Strikefans. I also know Strikefans has stolen content from users across social media without giving credit, because multiple times I've personally (and others who've told me) seen people posting things that nobody had spoken about yet, and two or three days later, it appeared in Strikefans or the Reddit group, or often, both, without any credit given. And I know that if it's your content and you speak up, they'll go after you, often using private messaging, like hyenas. Is it everyone in Strikefans? I want to think they aren't. Is it everyone in the Strike Reddit? I want to think not. Personally, my own research tells me the actual "dangerous" people are no more than 3, who are across all platforms and cause trouble in all platforms, but have such a high position of leadership in the fandom that they're hard to stand up against.

Three, in a fandom of what, millions of people? Is not much. The problem is when they get to positions of leadership in the fandom and feel entitled to act as some sort of dictators and although they're not Upcott and are rather unlikely to ever get physically violent with anyone, online people get cocky and narcissistic and people's feelings can get very hurt. So I do recommend speaking up, supporting each other as a fandom, trying to stand up against these people when possible, but more than anything, just taking care of yourself. If you feel your content gets stolen, or that people in the fandom get abusive... it's sad but maybe leaving those fandom networks is not a bad idea. Put yourself first and remember if there were big news in the fandom to share, it'd be in Google just as well, so there's no real need to put your mental health on the line to be part of certain networks where someone or some people might harass you. You're not going to miss anything or lose anything important for walking out on the bullies.

And this applies to every fandom because it happens in EVERY fandom. It's not that Strike fans are particularly bad or anything remotely like that. Like I said, it's the two-three people in a sea of millions, statistically, it'll happen. The difference between the Strike fandom and, say the Potter fandom, is that the Potter fandom was so beyond massive that there wasn't the one website or the one social media group, or the one blog: there were dozens and dozens. So no one had that much power and leadership, it was always very shared, and you could always go elsewhere if in one group there were people impossible to stand. Whereas in the Strike fandom, it's not so big, and there aren't that many options, and "power" or leadership do get concentrated. So try to avoid that, try to avoid giving anyone that much of authority or admiration or feeling of power, because we're the ones that give some fans that position, that "crown" and we can just as easily take it away and walk away and ignore them

Please put yourselves first and take care of yourselves, and if you feel someone actually goes against the whole platform's rules and terms of conditions (like Tumblr's, or Reddit's), don't hesitate to report them to the platform as well.

Look. Look I’m not reading as much fanfic as I used to.

But in case any young people out there need to hear this- it is very normal for gay people to just. take turns. For a lot of the stuff. That some of you. Seem to think are static, binariatic, opposing personality traits.

ngl some of yall treat “top” and “bottom” like they’re god given roles or immutable personality traits and not just like. where their body happens to be in relation to someone else’s rn

Being real for a second, some people use “top” and “bottom” the same way others would use “man” and “woman” and it SHOWS

Okay so imagine ✨Apothecary✨ Draco

  • Draco who after the war looks for forgiveness from everyone and in his grief gets really into natural healing
  • He spends a lot of time avoiding the mirror, hating himself, and trying to scrub off his tattoo
  • In his apology to Luna she guides him to natural medicine and he slowly but surely gets really into it especially given his aptitude for potions
  • He uses the medicines to slowly heal himself and has Luna give him a Reiki tattoo of Narcissus flowers over his dark mark although the tattoo is still raised and is only noticable if you stare hard enough
  • It becomes his new obsession healing and helping other death eater children that are looking to turn a new leaf and heal from the war.
  • He refines his craft to have things no one else has, through ancient and forgotten magic, and offers services that most after the war get turned away if they go to St. Mungos
  • In Knokturn Alley he eventually becomes known at The Apothecary, much to Harry's surprise when he has an incurable ailment
  • Ron and Harry shows up at his doorstep. Harry weak and delirious and Ron demands he help Harry since the quacks and St. Mungos can't help him
  • Draco is forced to take him under duress from Ron. Harry is in a coma with no end in sight. Ron, while wary, eventually trusts him after a while and leaves Harry there while he continues to work.
  • Draco is bewildered by this case, having never seen anything like it. Harry won't wake up, and apparently, in every case he and Ron worked together, all children affected never died or kept injury for very long. The most recent case being him completing a raid. Of which a teenager tricked Harry into thinking he made a mistake and was dying, then Harry went down shortly after the teen died, too, which furthered Draco's curiosity.
  • Ron and Hermione often visited and stayed with Draco, watching him work. Slowly they opened up about Harry and Draco slowly falls in love with him all over again through the stories.
  • Draco becomes completely absorbed into this case, not stopping until he uses a magical core healing potion using all his best ingredients. Harry is shocked back to life and panics seeing Draco and tries to leave only to pass out after running out of energy
  • Draco makes the decision to give him a piece of his soul, to settle his debt to him. He took it as much as he could give without dying and slipped it into a potion and forced him to drink it.
  • Harry returns to life and feels the best he's ever felt. He gives Draco shit at first, but once he explains he just looks puzzled. Draco looks up at him with an almost pained expression before turning away and saying now he doesn't owe him anymore. He quickly prescribes more of his potion, that has bits of his soul in it he leaves this bit out, and tells him to take a month off of work so he doesn't die.
  • Harry is SO confused and is clueless as to what's in the potion. He starts to figure it out during the 6 months he's forced to take from work. Ron and Hermione are worried for Draco. Harry is confused by their friendship so decides to try to figure out why he's doing so poorly.
  • Harry tries to get Draco to tell him, but he never slips. They develop a teasing relationship, but Harry doesn't fully allow himself to trust him just because he looks like he's terminally ill all the time.
  • Harry uses his invisibility cloak to see Draco making his potion and muttering to himself about how it's for the greater good.
  • That night he sees Draco take his wand and draw enchantment upon enchantment around him. The sigils glowed in the air as the spells he murmur echoed around him. Soon the glowing grew so bright from his chest exploded his magical core. It was a moonlight silver with an almost inklike black substance darting around in it.
  • He took his wand and carefully spun long silver strands from the orb and tipped it into the cauldron, where the potion sat boiling. It suddenly turned a bright gold color. Draco caught himself, slamming his palm on the table, almost losing consciousness while his core was dwindling
  • There was an intense look of fear and pain on his face. He took a deep breath and guided his core back to his chest. He finished and vialed the potion quickly before collapsing on the nearby couch.
  • Harry is baffled by all of this, not knowing fully if that was his magical core he's giving or pieces of his soul, and made his way back to his bed.
  • He would talk to him about it the next day. Draco is beyond pissed that Harry still didnt trust him or was watching him. Harry fought back saying how could he trust him if he does stuff like this? How could he ever trust him if one day he'll find him dead from what hes doing
  • Draco kicks him out saying he'll send the final doses to him in post. Draco forces Harry into the floo and throws the powder on him saying Ron and hermiones house. He blocks him from the floo. Harry lives with Hermione and Ron. They dont talk. Hermione and Ron get onto his case to find out what happened. Harry tells them everything and Ron mentions seeing some of that kind of magic in the Ministry. Its not exactly outlawed but its not known about nor is it looked well upon
  • Hermione does more research and is basically like he needs to stop or he'll render himself a squib, but worse. Burning out your magical core is basically like being chronically ill. He'll have a hole in his chest, random aches and pains that are persistent and range in intensity, overall weakness, sensitivity/physical discomfort to all magic including healing, the works.
  • Harry freaks out and breaks into Dracos house to find him on the floor. The potion is all over the floor surrounding his body. His eyes are rolled back. Harry calls Hermione and Ron and they take him to the hospital. Draco is in a coma for a week. Ron and Herm talk to Harry about their time with him while Harry was asleep.
  • Harry understands why they love him now. He had apologized and truly turned over a new leaf, but his fate looming over them while they talked still haunted the room. The doctors said they didnt know and couldn't check on his core. His wand was completely exploded outward and his core was untraceable. It seemed like there was an obscuring curse over his core. They'd have to see when he woke up
  • Harry grows angry at him for continuing to do that destructive potion for him. Draco looks gaunt and like hes going to die. He yells at him while he sleeps. He begs him to fight. Begs him to live. Begs him for a chance. Otherwise what was the point of this year theyve had? Then ends by telling him he cant wait for him anymore if he refuses to fight to live its not worth it.
  • Its been 3 weeks by now. He leaves and tells all this to Ron. Ron's disappointment shows clearly and he says as much saying he cant be serious being mad at him for fading.
  • Draco wakes up while hes gone. He heard everything. He quietly leaves the hospital without much warning. He follows the doctors instructions on drinking soul replenishment potions, but it seems like a growing addiction because of how much hes lost. Harry finds him missing and breaks into Dracos house.
  • Draco is back to how he used to be. Guarded. Cold. Callous. He tells Harry how he heard everything. Harry doesn't know how to respond. He apologizes and tells him how scared he was. How he realized he didnt want to be without him. How it killed him to imagine if he didnt have a chance with him. A chance at happiness.
  • Draco returns the feelings and they kissssssss! They fall into bed together and fuck like they would die if they didn't. They return to the doctor. Draco just had an extremely depleted core so he needs magical therapy *like physical therapy* to get his strength back
  • They find out Harry was magically bound to those kids and hes susceptible to that because of Voldemort. He just has to be very aware of whats going on with his core. They will both be okay
  • They get together and live happily ever after!!!

Blood, Fangs, and Annoying Blonds (ao3) - lightning_shaped_scars E, 41k

so many drarry fics retcon both characters. like they have to make either draco or harry an angsty, apologetic uwu when the best thing about a potential draco and harry dynamic is the SASS turned up to 1000000%. like both draco and harry have confidence and arrogance big enough to rival gods. harry "no need to call me sir, professor" potter and draco "i know my parents lives are at stake and that i'm failing but i don't want your help snape because the glory is mine and i can do it better than you anyways" malfoy. draco is really intelligent while harry is insanely talented when it comes to magic. the moment you try to top/bottom them or have some kind of power imbalance, you've missed. because they're evenly matched in ego, wit and will and NEITHER of them have inferiority complexes. draco just likes to peacock in front of harry and harry's constantly trying to squish the annoying bug that will not die which is draco. they are each other's perfect torment because they have what the other desires and that will always make them stupid with rage, unable to stop thinking about each other. they are each other's mirror of erised.

like you get it or you don't

the famous "Their tongues dominated each other" came from a Drarry fic for a reason. We have lost the ancient texts.

oh my god it did?!

I still love this website so much because it feels like the last connection we have to an internet that doesn’t exist anymore like I can come on here and scroll through posts that are literally just funny or beautiful or interesting with no intention to sell me something or influence me we are all just here for a laugh. Nothing is just for laughs anymore EXCEPT tumblr dot com

Headcannon that Harry’s glasses aren’t prescription (because the Dursley’s couldn’t be bothered) and that his glasses are probably just the ones of some dead relative Vernon dug up from an old drawer, so that even with his glasses his vision is a bit blurry. After the battle of Hogwarts and everything, he decides to finally take himself to an eye doctor and get actual prescription glasses (he still chooses a pair of round frames because he’s just used to them) and is astonished by the level of detail in everything. He’s looking at everything. He grabs Ron’s face and is like, “Mate, you have so many freckles,” and Ron’s just like, “Yeah, duh?” And he goes back to Hogwarts for eighth year (he can actually read what’s on the board and comes to realize he doesn’t hate studying as much when he doesn’t have to hold the book two inches from his face) and all is going well until he spots Draco and just. stops. because Draco bloody Malfoy was not supposed to be that fucking pretty goddamnit. Shut up, Hermione, this is too a big deal Stop laughing Ron You don’t understand why is he so pretty this isn't right he’snotsupposedtobethatprettyMerlinstoplaughingRonthisisn’tfunny

Okay, fuck, this headcanon specifically has sold me on Drarry. I’ve been on the fence for five years- this was the push I needed, so thanks for that

THIS IS CANON FOR ME NOW

If someone tells you “it’s just a fanfic, calm down” run. You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life.
