the planet that rules over ugliness is saturn, because saturn has rulership over all things that cause negative emotions, such as repulsion or disgust. ugliness is defined as “unpleasant or repulsive, especially in appearance.” people tend to avoid people they find unattractive, which isolates people considered ugly.

saturn also causes self deprecation & it’s not even that people born under saturn’s influence are innately ugly, but they often do not believe themselves as worthy of admiration or love or affection, so they fulfill the prophecy by neglecting themselves.

a roundabout example is how beyoncé has saturn in libra in the seventh and while she is considered beautiful, her husband is considered incredibly ugly. it’s popular consensus that she is far out of his league. saturn influencing the seventh can result in people being seen as prettier than their romantic partners.

mars doesn’t really have any rulership over ugliness as far as i know, but similar to saturn being the detriment of the luminaries, mars is the detriment of venus. and mars is a planet that causes injury or a lack of harmony, and i would say conventional beauty is largely about visual harmony.

even complexions, facial symmetry, etc. that’s all venus & i’d wager a bit lunar. but mars produces features considered unflattering in someone’s appearance, such as large scars or physical deformities due to injury.

sun, moon, venus, & saturn in the 12th*

in these cases, i feel like these people really fail to see beauty in themselves. for saturn, they can overall lack self-esteem and they may often self-deprecate. all of these planets in the twelfth can neglect themselves. and well, nobody really looks good when they neglect themselves. beauty is upkeep, not even necessarily talking about having to get your nails did and lashes did and a crisp line up. but feeling like you are not worth spoiling or investing in yourself: nobody gone invest in you if you don’t even believe in you.

I have observed that Magha energy is the most paradoxical of the fire signs. It is the sign of the King (Leo), but it is ruled by Ketu (the headless, spiritual void). The vibe is not the "party" energy of Purva Phalguni, it is a heavy, somber, and deeply authoritative presence. They feel like "Old Money" or ancient royalty.
